I looked around the room, wanting to change the subject. “Okay, what do you want me to do?” I asked. “You can decorate these cookies. “Sage motioned to some cookies and icing. I nodded and pulled the plate closer to me. I started eating one cookie while piping icing on another. “You’re doing it wrong.” Lyrie sounded annoyed at the end of the table. “No no, I got this.” I assured her as I got some sprinkles and added it to my cookie. I added a few more things then held it up for inspection. All the girls laughed except for Lyrie, who sighed.

For sure, I am not in this hellhole. “I’ve got some cookies,” Layla said while smiling, then gave me a pack of cookies. “Where did you get this?” I asked while looking at the cookies. “Beta Lucian gave it to me. He said it’s for us.” I nodded, then smiled. Did Beta Lucian remember our birthday?

I mutter.
