Man, Joey's face in 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' is one of those iconic things you can't unsee once you notice it. Early in the series, especially the Duelist Kingdom arc, his facial proportions were... let's say unique. His nose was tiny, his eyes were huge, and his jawline was practically non-existent. It gave him this exaggerated, almost cartoonish look compared to other characters. Some fans joke that the animators were still figuring out his design, while others think it was a stylistic choice to highlight his underdog personality.
Later seasons smoothed things out, though. By the Battle City arc, Joey's face got a serious glow-up—more balanced features, sharper lines, and way less goofy. It's funny how character designs evolve over time. Part of me misses the old Joey, though; that weird face kinda grew on me, like a nostalgic charm from the early days of the show.
