Zelda Zanders is this super underrated character from 'The Legend of Zelda' animated series that aired way back in the late '80s. She only popped up in a handful of episodes, but man, did she leave an impression! I think she first shows up in Episode 5, 'The White Knight,' where she’s this glamorous, scheming princess trying to outwit Link. Then she reappears in Episode 8, 'Stinging a Sweetheart,' with this whole honey trap plot—classic '80s cartoon villainy. Her last hurrah is Episode 13, 'The Moblins Are Revolting,' where she teams up with the Moblins in this chaotic heist. It’s a shame she didn’t get more screen time; her dynamic with Link was hilarious, all flirty one second and backstabbing the next. I still dig out my old VHS tapes just to watch her scenes.
Funny thing is, Zelda Zanders isn’t even in the games! She’s purely an anime-original character, which makes her even more special to me. The way she’s written feels like this weird mix of 'Dangerous Seductress' and 'Comic Relief,' which totally fits the over-the-top tone of the show. If you’re into retro animation or Zelda deep cuts, she’s worth checking out—just don’t expect her to act like any Zelda you’ve met in Hyrule.
