The Ford brothers are a curse! I exhale sharply and rub my temple. “I’m tired. I don’t feel like eating.” His smile fades. He walks toward me. “Are you okay?” I shove him back. “Leave me alone.” He stares at me, stunned. “What’s wrong, Sara? Talk to me.” Something snaps. “I’m tired!” I shout. “Tired of you! Your stupid brother! Jason! Khlan! All of it! I just want to go home and have some peace!”

I told myself none of this changed anything I needed to do or my reasons for doing it. Outside the house, the city had woken up just like any other morning. But something about me didn’t feel normal. Unfortunately, I didn't drop to my knees in a flood of tears and beg for forgiveness the way they'd hoped. Everyone stood frozen in shock at the scene unfolding before them. By the time they snapped out of it, the photo on the tombstone was already smeared with mud.
