As an ordinary wolf-girl, Scarlett Black is turning 17 the only thing she was worrying about was boys, friends and coming closer to her wolf awakening. Little did she know the next few years would change her life forever.
View MoreSitting in the bay window of my room, watching my two youngest brothers practicing their training moves. Pulling myself from my daydream and getting up to go back to my laptop to finish the english homework that I had been putting off for two days. After half an hour of trying to type out the jumble of words in my head, my mom mind-linked me.
“Honey, dinners ready. Come down and eat with everyone dad has something to tell everyone.” She said.
“Coming mom be there in a minute” I mind-linked back.
Heading down the four flights of stairs to the large kitchen, dining open area of the pack house. As I came to the bottom of the stairs I could already smell the delicious herb chicken and roasted vegetables the pack members prepped. Dad, mom and my four brothers are all already sitting at the head of the long table along with the other 40 or so members of the pack. Dad waiting to speak until I took my place next to my mom and twin older brothers.
“Thank you all for coming tonight. Luna and I have exciting news with our oldest sons turning 18 tomorrow we have invited our closest neighboring packs. Joining us for this occasion will be Opal moon, Red Sky, Eclipse, Crescent moon and for the first time in our packs history the royals will be attending. This means everything must be in perfect shape. We will need a lot of help preparing. Our Luna will be dealing with meals, rooms and making sure our guests are happy. I will be dealing with security and welcoming our guests along with my family.” My father said.
“Yes Alpha” everyone at the table spoke in unison.
“Oh my GOD, are you serious?” My best friend Lily yelled when I told her what my father had said last night at dinner.
“Yes, he said the royals are coming, really” I replied.
“The prince’s are so hot, you are so lucky imagine if they mated with one of us.” She said. Yeah imagine our dreams and girly talks over the phone at night would come true. “Being a real life princess, if I mate with Shane then I would become queen one day.”Lily continued as I went into my own world again.
Shane was the oldest of the royal children, he was every girls dream. He’s the same height as my father at 6’8; with jet black hair and green eyes. According to the wolf times he works out meaning he well built, from the pictures we’ve seen he is very defined and as lily said hot. Jamie on the other hand is slightly shorter than his older brother at 6’5; he has light mousy brown hair with blue eyes. Like his brother is well defined. Unlike his brother he seems more outgoing and adventurous. Maybe because he will never be on the throne?
“Are you ignoring me?” Lily’s voice jolted me out of my thoughts.
“No, what? Sorry I was just um” I stuttered.
“You were daydreaming about the prince’s again? Haha I know how you’re feeling girl they’re dreamy.” Lily laughed as she pulled me towards last period math with Mr. Franks.
Sitting in math class suffering through with Mr. Franks droning on about problems I had already solved in the homework, my mind started to wonder again to the prince’s, Chris and Kyle’s birthday and the possible future that could be. A pen hit my arm making me jump I look at Lily who was giggling and pointing towards the front of the class.
“Miss Black welcome back I hope you had a good dream. If we could continue now?” Mr. Franks said making me duck my head downwards and nod.
Feeling my cheeks getting warmer as Lily stifled giggles beside me; the bell couldn’t come fast enough. Sighing once it finally rang Lily and I walked towards our lockers and threw the books we wouldn’t need for homework into them, for me it was math and English books but for Lily it was all of her books, she may be smart but she is a slacker when it comes to school work.
“Come on lets go for a drive.” Lily said walking out of the school towards her car. I nodded following her and getting into the passenger seat.
“Where are we going?” I asked as Lily pulled out of the parking lot. When she didn’t respond I looked at her and she smiled at me winking.
“It’s a surprise. Don’t look so worried I’ll have you home before dinner or your mom would skin me alive.” She said heading towards the mall.
We walked around the mall talking about the Prince’s and the boy’s birthday. I still hadn’t gotten them a present yet so I was looking for something special. Normally mom would pick something for all of us to put our names on but since it was such an important birthday I wanted to get them something myself but hadn’t found anything yet. As we were walking Lily stopped at one of the jewelry stores and was gawking over the amazing engagement rings and droning on about her ‘perfect man’ while my eyes caught on a necklace set. It was a set of wolves howling upwards together that pulled apart into two necklaces.
“That’s perfect.” I muttered to myself heading inside with Lily following behind me.
“That was an expensive present!” She said pulling up to the pack house. I looked at her and smiled.
“It’s an important birthday and this is so them.” I said climbing out of the car. “I don’t care about the cost my pocket money covered it just fine.” She nodded as I closed the door and walked towards the front door.
Screaming vibrated threw the halls as I pushed. "One more push and you'll be able to rest." A redheaded nurse said to me as I crushed her hand in mine. "I can't I'm too tired!" I cried, tears rolling down my face. "Scarlett you need to push now!" the doctor said from between my legs. I breathed in and pushed as hard as I could. As a northern scream passed from my lips I heard small cries. looking down I saw a small baby in the doctor's arms. I started crying harder looking at the small perfect baby. "I did it Shane I did it for us." I whisper to myself before clearing my throat. The doctor looked at Deacon and Grace who I didn't realize were standing in the doorway. Grace looked like she was going to take my child and run."Give me my child now!" I shouted with more power than I realized causing the baby to start crying. Deacon nodded at the doctor who laid my baby on my bare chest. I wrapped my hands around my baby and stroked its back. "Congratulations on your baby girl." th
My eyes shot open causing me pain from the brightness of the room. I squinted and blinked trying to center myself. My hands shot to my very pregnant belly and rubbed while I sighed in relief."It was just a dream." I mumbled."What was that dear?" A female voice caused me to jump and look towards her."I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you. Deacon said you might want to talk when you woke up. I was just bringing you these so this room didn't feel so empty." She said as she sat a vase of pink and blue roses next to the bed.I stared at this woman who claimed to be my mother with wonder and slight anger. If she hadn't made up this situation of being my mother I would be at home with my true family. My husband and helping to rule my kingdom. She sighed feeling my stare and turned to look me in the eye. Her eyes were strikingly similar to mine. Her hair fell in a strangely familiar way. She looked sad while sitting in the chair next to me, almost tired.
Shane's POVStanding in the meeting room the distinct smell of blood kissed my nose. I froze, my head shooting up eyes wide I could tell everyone in the room could smell it too. Noone was breathing. Noone made a move until we heard the screams then everyone burst out of the room through the castle and over the ground towards the cottage. Once we arrived it was a horrible scene. Blood covered the drive and the broken bloody bodies of the guards lay in front of the door."SCARLETT?!" I screamed into the cottage as I slipped on blood running inside.I cleared the whole place within a minute but there was noone inside."Mom?" I heard Chris say from outside and exited the cottage to see Scarlett's family surrounding her mother laying on the ground next to one of the trees.I mindlinked a doctor to come and tend to her as I turned to Jamie who was kneeling next to one of the dead guards."This was him. We can't let he
Waking in a bright white room made me panic and reach for my stomach. I was breathing heavy panicking about the baby. When I realised everything was normal, or as normal as it could be. I looked around the hospital room slowly only stopping when my eyes fell on Deacon sleeping in a chair in the corner of the room."How long have I been here?" I said startling him awake."Scarlett? You're awake." He said yawning."How long?" I said more aggressive." You've been sleeping since yesterday morning. It's now." He said looking down at the golden watch on his wrist. "8pm."I looked at him through squinted eyes remembering what happened the morning before."I want answers!" I said.He nodded sitting up and rubbing his hands together."Listen this isn't." He started but I cut him off."No! I want real answers. Why did your mother say those things to me? Why did you kidnap me and bring me here? Is it about terriorty? A ranso
Standing stunned looking between this woman and Deacon. He rushed into the room grabbing her arm, this caused me to move forward toward them and growl."What do you mean mom?" I half asked half screamed all the emotions from last night bubbling up."We will discuss this later." Deacon said through gritted teeth before dragging the woman who looked just like me out of the room.I huffed and sat on the bed looking around the room in daylight. The dark purple was a beautiful color and made the room look very royal. I saw a set of clothes laid out on a dresser I hadn't noticed last night. I approached and saw it was a sundress that was yellow with delicate pink flowers lining the hems. I suddenly realized I had slept in my clothes and headed into the adjoining bathroom to shower.I dressed and left the room after I felt not so stale. Trying to find my way into a dining room, study or the front door I walked for at least 20 minutes down long grand
After driving for hours my eyes were puffy and red. My throat was so dry and sore from crying and yet all I could do was hold my stomach protectively and silently sob. It was after we had passed a horrific battle at our northern border and entered the rogue nation when the driver finally slowed down and drove normally. He didn't speak much but kept glancing in the rear vision mirror looking at me with what I assumed was pity. He had offered me a bottle of water but I was not going to drink it! We had been driving for hours when I cracked and finally took a sip. My throat screamed in happiness when it was finally quenched. However then another problem arouse. I had to use the bathroom. "I need you to stop or I'm going to make a mess back here." I crocked out in my now horse voice. He looked at me again before speaking for the first time. "We will be there in less than 30 minutes can you wait?" His voice was oddly soft.
