Author's POV

"I think you are again going rough on her..."

Arabella looked at Egon. 

"This might take her away from you."

Egon nodded. 

"I know there is a risk, but I want her to recall everything, and she remembers me as a monster, so she might recall everything through anger... You saw how Queen came out a second when she was angry in the hallway."

"Hmm, I saw, but Egon, I don't want history to repeat itself...Perhaps you should try an alternative approach... She looks hurt!"

Arabella sighed. 

"Anyways, you know her better than me."

"And as much as I know, she won't sit quietly. She will try to escape! Not because she can but just to show me that I can't stop her... The ego game was always strong here."

He saw her jumping out of the window and sprinting towards the gate like a child who's stealing chocolates from the freezer. 

Arabella raised her eyebrows, amused, and followed him out. 

She saw Emerald frozen in the garden because Egon's watchdog was daring her to take a step. 

Emerald was looking at the dog, just as she had been in front of the leopard. 

"Fuck!"

She tried to turn around and it barked. 

She screamed and jumped on Egon, who was standing a few feet away from her. She wrapped her legs around his waist and hugged him tightly. 

"You did it on purpose!... Ahhh!"

She screamed when the dog kept barking. 

Egon looked at Arabella and mouthed. 

"Told you!"

She chuckled and shook her head. 

"You are such a monster!"

She looked at him while hanging on to him like a monkey. 

"What did I do?"

He shrugged. 

"You pulled a stupid stunt... You think it's easy to escape the mafia King's house?"

She rolled her eyes. 

"King my ass!"

She mumbled to herself. 

"Do you realise that you are too close to me and I can hear your shit?"

He warned. 

"So?"

She mocked. 

He placed her down and she screamed while climbing on him again. 

"No, don't put me down... Your hound will eat me"

"Why would I help you?"

He smirked evilly. 

She cleared her throat. 

"Because I am your captive and it's your responsibility to protect me."

"Wow! I should really admire your overconfidence when it comes to talking."

He mocked. 

"Because I am a girl and you are a gentleman?"

She tried again. 

He shook his head. 

"Not convinced..."

She groaned. 

"Because you are a nice guy!"

"Hmm, working... Try more!"

He smirked at her annoyed expression. 

"And you are sweet, kind, handsome and charming... And I really admire you for that."

She continued. Trying to impress him. 

"Hmm, better but I am still not convinced to help you... Maybe after you finish your pending apology!"

He chuckled evilly. 

She gasped and gritted but she had no other choice. 

"You finally got me under you, didn't you?"

"Not yet, but it will be fun when I do!"

He tucked her wild hair behind her ear and she could feel her ears burn. 

"You will love it!"

She suddenly felt the heat rising in her body and realised in what position they were. Her legs were strongly wrapped around his waist, her heat was on his torso. Chest was pressed against his. Her hands were all over his muscles, and her face was too close to avoid temptation. 

"Will I?"

She almost got lost in his eyes. 

The bark of the dog brought them out of their daze and she screamed again. 

"Can you shut this little hound up...".

" I can, you know what to do."

He teased.

"Arghh! You are so annoying."

She groaned. 

"Fine, I am sorry for slapping you because you disrespected me and slut shamed me... Happy?"

"We can do better, but it's fine for now!"

He chuckled and placed her down. 

She looked back and sighed when the dog left. 

"Goodness!"

She breathed in relief. 

"Try it again and I'll break your legs!"

He warned and started walking away. 

She ran behind him and grabbed his hand because the dog was still watching her. 

"Wait, what if I try to run again. How can you leave me alone out there... Careless!"

Egon laughed silently as she held his hand and walked back into the house. 

Arabella realised that this time their relationship won't take an ugly turn due to quarrels because this time it's cute. 

They are almost healed this time. 

"Good night!"

Egon pushed her towards her room. 

She turned around. 

"I can't sleep without hot chocolate, lavender scent and my favourite show."

Egon looked at her like he was looking at a spoiled brat. 

"And good sex?"

He raised his eyebrows challengingly. 

"Yeah, but better with a single man, unlike you!"

She scowled and ran back to her room before he could grab and punish her for being bratty. 

Egon saw her running away like a scared bunny and laughed his heart out. He hasn't laughed like that in a decade. 

"Cute!"

Meanwhile, Emerald huffed and threw herself on the bed. 

"Handsome monster!"

She freshened up and tried to sleep but she was struggling. 

Suddenly, she could smell lavender's faint smell in her room. She slowly pulled down the bedsheets from her face and saw a handsome man standing beside her bed with hot chocolate. 

He looked like an angel under the dim yellow light. He sat down beside her, and his muscles flexed with movements. 

She sat up and looked at him with a soft smile, as if somewhere she knew that he would come. 

He gently handed her the cup and she took it without a word. 

He admired her as she devoured her drink like a kid, they didn't talk. They were just enjoying their presence. 

She handed him the empty mug and he smiled while wiping her lips with his thumb. 

He placed her head on his chest when she started drooping. 

"Good night, my love!"

His soft words whispered in her ear like a dream; she smiled in her sleep. 

"Egon, you are here."

It wasn't Emerald, it was Queen.
