Chapter Twenty-Seven
Nikolas couldn’t believe his ears. Did she really ask him to stay just like she had asked her dream man in her sleepy state? He was too confused, not knowing what to make of it anymore.
His phone buzzed with an incoming call from officer Warner. He walked into the room, ushering Brooklyn too, and closed the door after them. “Yes, officer Warner, tell me. Any news of Freddie Miller?” he asked with a tense expression on his face. Brooklyn stared at him with fear in her eyes.
“Good morning, Mr. Ardolf. We have arrested Freddie Miller and some of his men as they were entering Washington through I-5 N. Three of our officers have been injured in the combat, but nothing serious so far,” he informed, making Brooklyn gasp with horror.

In ten minutes Brooklyn was ready to go and see her twin. She sat in the reception room waiting for Nikolas. Although she knew where the outhouse was, she didn’t have the courage to go alone after Nikolas had warned her not to. After a few minutes, Nikolas walked out in his work outfit, and Brooklyn couldn’t help but check him out. His muscular frame was well covered in the black formal suit he wore and if she hadn’t seen him semi-naked, she would never have known how well endowed he really was! A deep blush stained her cheeks at the sinful thoughts that invaded her mind.“Ready?” he asked, coming to a halt in front of her, his piercing gaze hooked upon her. Nikolas shut his laptop and strode out of the conference room. The ordeal was over and he was now free to go home to Brooklyn.
