Chapter Fifty Nine

When Rose got into the bedroom, Christopher had already freshened up and was waiting for her. "Let me quickly have my bath!" Rose said and walked into the closet. A few minutes later, she came out and walked into the bathroom with a change of clothes in her hands. Christopher was just watching her as she walked into the bathroom. When Rose came back into the room, Christopher was just playing on his phone. "What are you doing?" Rose asked as she say down.

"Just playing on my phone." He answered and put the phone beside him on the bed. The truth is, he wasn't playing any game. He was watching the videos he made on their outing.

"Oh, so good night?" Rose asked as she laid down beside him.

"Are you that tired?" Christopher asked her.

"Not really. I... I don't know if you want to sleep. Are you not tired?" Rose asked.

"I am not tired at all... Today was so good and fun that instead of getting tired, my energy was replenished." Christopher said happily. "Thank you." He added.

"Why are you thanking me? What have I done to deserve your appreciation?" Rose asked looking at him.

"Every happiness that I have today is all because of you. You deserve all the appreciation I can give." Christopher said.

"No, you are wrong. I should be the one thanking you. Everything I have today is because of you. I should be the one thanking you. Thank you, Chris!" Rose said.

"I love you, Rose! I love you with all my being and I can't wait for you to love me back." Christopher suddenly confessed.

"I know you do... I know. I am sorry for keeping you waiting. It's just..."

"Shhhh..." Christopher silenced her by placing a finger on her lips. "Don't rush yourself. I want to make you love me for who I am and not out of appreciation. Don't rush yourself." He added and removed his finger from her lips bit not without running the finger over her lips. "So, what was that call you had earlier about?" Be asked her.

"Ooh, that? Well, it was Ada who called. Something is wrong!!" Rose answered.

"What happened? Is it the business? Did something happen in the house?" Christopher asked at once.

"No, it's not the house. She said someone is asking questions about me from the employees." Rose answered.

"I don't understand. Can you tell me everything? From the beginning to the end. I want to hear everything." He said sitting up straight.

"She called and told me that our pictures are trending online. She said a blogger posted a picture of us and it's spreading." Rose said and watched his reaction. When she didn't see any change of expression on him, she asked. "You knew, right?"

"I know about our picture being posted and I allowed it to spread. I thought you wouldn't mind. Do you mind?" He asked her.

"No, no, I don't mind at all. I chose to go out with you today which means I was ready for such a thing. I am just worried about Princess. Won't the publicity overwhelm her?" Rose said.

"If you don't mind then, it's ok. I have it under control. Is that why you looked so worried earlier?" Christopher asked.

"No, that's not why but that was one of the reasons why she called me. The other one is to talk about something strange that happened over there. She said, when she got there this morning, she met it open, and later in the day, a man was asking employees questions about me." Rose explained.

"Is that all? Is that everything that happened?" Christopher asked.

"That's basically everything. You don't look surprised to hear what I just said. Do you know anything about it?" Rose asked.

"If you want the truth then, yes. I know about it." Christopher answered.

"Who is he? What happened? How was the door opened?" Rose asked one breath.

"Ok, first of all, the person who opened your store was trying to break in. My people caught him before he could open it fully." Christopher explained.

"Wait, you have people watching there?" Rose asked and Christopher nodded his head. "Since when? For how long have you been watching me?" She asked.

"For as long as I can remember. I found out your whereabouts a year and a half after you left Lagos. That's how long I have been watching you. So about last night, my people caught him before he could break-in. They were five of them." Christopher explained.

"What were they looking for? Are they robbers?" Rose asked.

"I don't know yet but, I have them and I will find out what they want," Christopher assured her.

"Should I be scared? I mean what if they were sent by someone?" Rose asked worriedly.

"Don't worry. Nothing will happen to you. I am here to protect you and our child. Nothing is going to happen as long as I am alive. I will find out what they were looking for and who sent them. That, I promise you." Christopher assured her.

"What about the person going about asking things about me? Did you catch him as well?" Rose asked.

"This is new to me. I will make some call and investigate it. Just be rest assured that all is well." Christopher said and pulled her into his arms.

"I am not scared, Just worried. What if they succeed in getting into the shop and destroying things?" Rose asked.

"Don't bother yourself about that. I've got it under control." He assured.

"Hmm, I know. What would they be looking for? I mean, the person asking questions. What could he be looking for? There is nothing to find. I am an orphan with nothing. What could they be hoping to find?" Rose asked?

"Listen to me!" Christopher said tilting her face upwards to look at him. "Just get those things off your mind. Let me think. Let me worry for you. Don't even start killing yourself over what is not worth it. Go ahead with your daily life and I will take care of everything for you." Christopher said.

"Ok. Thank you." Rose said feeling at peace. "Just make sure you keep me updated and I will not bother," Rose added.

"No issues. I will definitely do that. You should go to sleep." Christopher said.

"Okay... Good night and thank you for today. You should also catch some sleep." Rose said.

"I will but, not yet. I still have something that I need to attend to. Just go to sleep." Christopher said. When he waited for a while and didn't get any reply from Rose, he looked at her face that was placed on his chest and found out that she had fallen asleep. His look was so tender. He couldn't help trailing his hand over her face and saying. "I love you so much, Rose."

After about thirty minutes, he gently placed Rose's head on a pillow and left the bed. He put on a shirt and walked out of the room. He stopped at Princess's room, kissed her good night, and went into his office. He took out his phone that was only meant for calling his workers and called Uzo. When the call was connected from the other end, he said. "What's happening? How are things?"

"You need to be specific. What things are you asking of? You gave me so much work to do so you need to be specific." Uzo said.

"Fine. Have you arranged thee people that will work as personal guards for my wife and child?" He asked.

"Yes, they are ready and will follow them at all times. I put John as head of guards for your daughter and I made paul head of guards for your wife. Their teams include 12 people. John will always be in the same car as your daughter while the others will follow behind discreetly." Uzo explained.

"That's good. I want them to be followed at all times but they should be able to enjoy their freedom. Where are you right now?" Christopher asked?

"I am at the office in Lagos. Is there a problem?" Uzo asked.

"Yes, there is a problem. I want to stop hiding. Things are getting hot and I want to come out fully. Tell every head of my company to release an announcement that I am the owner. The only ones I want kept secret are the security agency and media house. I don't want that to be announced just yet." Christopher said.

"Something big must have happened to make you want to do this. What happened." Uzo asked.

"Someone was bold enough to go after my wife. The guys over there have them In custody but there Is something else. I learned from Rose that someone is asking her workers about her. The surprising thing about that is, no one told me about it. This means the person in question is experienced. He knows we are watching." Christopher said.

"That's strange... How can anyone know about the people we put there. It's not possible unless that person had been watching for a long time as well." Uzo said. "Wait, why would anyone be asking about her? The only interesting thing is that she is your wife and that hasn't even been made known to the public." Uzo added after some thoughts.

"That's my point. I want you to do something for me." Christopher said.

"What's that?" Uzo asked cautiously.

"Can you go to Benue state and investigate It yourself?" Christopher asked.

"Ha, that's too much. Let the people there handle it na... You sha want to kill me with errands! How do I get a wife if you keep giving me so much work?" Uzo said sadly.

"Just listen to me first. I will send you there and call Raymond over from the states. If I remember correctly, you used to admire that girl that works for my wife." Christopher said.

"What has that got to do with any of these?" Uzo asked.

"Well, Rose adopted her as a sister and she stays in my wife's house now. When you get there, you will be working directly with her and even stay in the same house. That will be killing two birds with one stone." Christopher said hoping to get Uzo's approval to go there.

"That's tempting but, I still have to think about it. How long will I be there?" Uzo asked.

"You only need to be there for as long as it is necessary. It's just that I will be more assured If you are in charge. Don't worry, once Ray comes to Nigeria, he will be in charge and you get your workload reduced." Christopher said.

"Fine. I will go over there tomorrow. Just make sure that she is expecting me there. I don't want to go and start explaining myself when I get there. Anyway, was your outing?" Uzo asked.

"It was wonderful. I had the best time of my life today. I felt what It means to go on a family outing. It was magical." Christopher said and From his voice, one could hear the happiness when he talked.

"I could see it in the pictures online and from your tone right now, it shows how at peace you are. I am happy for you man!" Uzo said.

"I am happy and it's a great feeling. I have been longing to go out with both of them for years and God finally gave me the opportunity. I seriously had fun and I want it to remain that way. I want to always see my family happy. Even if it means going to the sky to make them happy, I am willing to go. That's why I don't want to take chances. What if I don't take this issue seriously and it happens to bring about serious disaster? I don't want to regret not doing enough..." Christopher said.

"Don't worry bro... I will do my best. Your happiness is very important to me. Your family is mine as well. Just be rest assured that I will do all it takes to help." Uzo said.

"Thanks, bro, that's why I am always at ease if you are in charge. I know you will handle my issues like it is yours and I will always do the same for you as well.!" Christopher said.

"Before I forget. Your dad has made a move. He went to Oshodi today and met with a guy named Stone. From the looks of things, we need to be extra careful." Uzo clarified

"Yes!! That is what I have been waiting for. I want him to make his move and then, catch him redhanded. That's very good of him. Just concentrate on finding out about the person looking for my wife. I will handle my father personally." Christopher said. He has been waiting for his father to make a move and so that he can catch him on the spot.

"You sound very happy... Are you that eager to crush your father?" Uzo asked.

" I am not happy to crush my father. On the contrary, I am disappointed. I thought he would let go but, since he Is being irresponsible, I have no other choice than to put him in his place. Anyways, you need to get some rest because of your journey. Good night!." Christopher said.

"Wait. Wait... Before you hang up, can you give me your wife's phone number?" Uzo hurriedly said. The next thing he heard was, beep... Beep... Beep...
