CHAPTER ONE:
*Lisa*
“I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
The priest’s voice cracked through the yard. The atmosphere smelled like luxury—roses, champagne, and Vanessa’s Dior perfume. Everyone stood. Everyone cheered as the bride and groom kissed.
Everyone except me.
The words kept ringing in my head like a voicemail I couldn’t delete. I watched _my husband kiss my sister while two hundred guests threw white roses. I clapped too.
But not with happiness.
With something that tasted like planning.
While she was getting married with luxury, I was married with a paper and pen. She gets to kiss him in front of God. He shifts away when I try to fix his tie.
He treated me like shit.
But here they are, laughing. Even his mother is smiling like she never told me “the guest wing is fine for people like you.”
I felt like an outcast and that is why I stood at the back watching everything from where I was. I was not wearing anything fancy, I wore a cheap dress and flipflops.
Just then I heard someone calling me. I turned.
It was my husband’s sister. Beth. She looked bítchy in her short gown, lips curled like she smelled trash.
“Waiter!” she snapped, not even looking at me. “Get me another glass of wine. And make sure there are extra ices in there.”
Her sassy tone hit my nerves raw. I wasn’t a waiter I was his wife On paper.
But I took a breath. I smiled. I turned to get the wine, because one of the rules included respect and of the Maintaining decorum at public functions hosted by the Primary Family.
I should’ve known better.
After I served Beth I made sure to sit next to the pool since it had a fewer people . Just then I heard foot steps from behind and I couldn't help but to to turn to see who it was .
I was stunned cause it was Mr.King . He was holding two cups of wine . He smiled and I returned the smile .
He was the only one that never abused me actually. He was good to me and sometimes he would protect me against his wife.
But then he's always busy ,he is really scarce to find.
"Mr.King."I said with a smile and he chuckled.
"No need to be formal daughter, you can call me father."he said as always.
He handed me the cup on the right side and I took it ."Yunno you always say that to me. Mr.....I mean Father."My voice was filled with respect cause he always earned my respect .
"Anyways ,why would you come stand here with me when you can greet your new daughter-in-law? I found myself asking.
I saw him chuckling and then he stared at me."I have only one daughter in-law, Your stepsister is an in-law only to my wife."he said but I was confused.
What does he mean by that?
"Wait..what do you actually mean by that if I may ask?
"What I mean is that, my son will be back tomorrow from Russia. I'll very much love if you two could meet."he said , his tone straight forward.
Then his phone rang ."There's an emergency, I'll see you."he said.
And just like that he left, I stared at his back. But then an idea struck! His son was coming back tomorrow.
A cunning and sexy smirk formed.
Perfect!
But just then I heard heels clicking fast behind me. Too fast.
“Smile for the cameras, sis,” Vanessa whispered, her breath hot on my ear. Her diamond cut my cheek as she leaned in. “You look so pretty when you’re invisible.”
Then hands. Both of them. Small, manicured, lethal.
They shoved.
The world tilted. My stomach dropped before my body did. I heard gasps, then laughter sharp, ugly laughter before the water swallowed me whole.
The pool was freezing. My lungs seized. My black dress billowed around me like ink.
When I came out of the pool, coughing, two hundred phones were on me.
Vanessa stood at the edge in her white lace, holding her bouquet, looking horrified. For the cameras.
“Oh my god, Lisa!” she gasped, hand over her mouth. “I’m so sorry! I slipped! Are you okay?”
Justin didn’t move. He just stood there, arm around Vanessa, jaw tight. Like I was embarrassing him.
His mother clicked her tongue. “Some people don’t know how to behave around people"
"But then it's expected,I mean a worthless woman with no tittle, and no money."She added
Beth was the first to laugh. Then another. Then the whole yard.
I dragged myself out of the pool, water streaming off me, mascara burning my eyes. My flipflops were gone. My dignity was gone.
"Justin can you please help me up ."I said as I looked at Justin.
He wouldn’t meet my eyes.
"Help you?...How pathetic can you be , you are humiliating me and my family. Get up by yourself and stop being a useless lump of coal!"
I could hear the disgust in his voice,he sounded like someone who was so annoyed and angry at the same time.
I looked at Vanessa. She mouthed “Oops” and smiled.
I didn’t cry.
They don't deserve my tears .
I'll not cry.
Broken girls cry.
I walked past them, dripping onto their Italian marble, and left a wet footprint on Vanessa’s train.
I’m not broken.
I’m planning.
And Vanessa just taught me how to drown someone without touching them.
Lesson learned.
And the game will continue Tommorow, I'll destroy them, and I'll humiliate him and teach him a lesson.
I got into my roo
m, in there . There was a picture of Cyrus, the most dangerous man in the world and also son of Mr.King.
"Let the seduction game begin."I smirked darkly. My eyes shone darkness.
---CHAPTER 8* I WANT MY BROTHERS WIFE CYRUSMy eye twitched. Not from happiness. Not from excitement. From rage.Beth stood at my door with that smile plastered on her face. The kind of smile that haunted my nightmares.I glanced at Lisa. She looked untouched. Innocent. Like she’d never ruined my morning. Like she wasn’t the predator in the room.Damn.She loved provoking me.No woman had ever turned me on like this. Especially not my brother’s wife.Lisa walked toward the door. Beth’s glare followed her. If looks could kill, my little kitten would be dead already.“Aren’t you tired of trying to flatter everyone?” Beth snapped. “No one likes you, and no one ever will. So stop trying.”Lisa didn’t even turn around.“I don’t have to try for attention,” she replied, voice calm and cutting. “But if you’re desperate for it, I don’t mind giving you some—once you lose that ego of yours.”I smirked. So the wolf I’d been waiting years to see was finally showing her teeth.“Oh, before I forg
---CHAPTER 9 BETH’S POVA smile curled on my lips as I walked out of the gigantic glass building. The sun hit my face, warm and perfect. Today marked the start of something beautiful. With me inside that building now, Cyrus would be mine. It was only a matter of time before I got rid of Lisa somehow Permanently. The fact that she’d grown fangs lately was driving me insane. First it was the dinner stunt. Then she defied my mother’s orders like they meant nothing. And now she was Cyrus’s PA? No. I wouldn’t let it stand.Becoming the secretary was the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I’d be close to him every single day. I’d seduce him slowly, carefully, until he couldn’t see anyone but me. So what if he was my brother? It was only legal. Blood didn’t mean anything when it came to possession.Just then my driver pulled up, and I slid into the backseat of the car. Leather seats, tinted windows, and the smell of cologne and power.“Driver, take me home,” I ordered, my voice sha
CHAPTER 7 (..almost caught...)LISA'SHis words hung in the air, and that made me smirk. Isn't it touching? I mean, I actually get to see his reaction. He looks like he meant every damn word.Well, too bad, because it's just way too late.I looked at Justin, who was breathing hard but still refusing to look away from Cyrus."What's that supposed to mean? I think maybe you just lost your senses," Cyrus said.Cyrus's voice echoed, dark and very malicious. I believe that this day has turned out to be the most interesting day."I think I just heard myself. I'm not letting her go to work. She is supposed to stay here to take care of me and perform house duties as a wife," Justin spoke, and my eye twitched.Seriously? Me, a housewife, to serve him? That was years ago. Right now, I'll do whatever I want."Babe, I think you should sit down. I'll make you feel better. She is not worthy of you," Vanessa added.I looked at Mr. King. He only ate his food. What I really love about him is the way h
CHAPTER 6*LISA POV*His eyes shone with darkness, and that was perfect. Somehow, I liked the turn of things. He stood from his chair, and in seconds he was towering over me.He caged me in, and I must say I felt a thrill like never before.“What? Are you trying to restrain me? Huh. Are you somehow afraid?” I teased.Every word I spoke was slow, patient, and well calculated.“Fuck you, Lisa. I’m not restraining anything, Lisa. I’m only trying to be kind enough to actually save you from what I’ll do to you,” he whispered close.I could sense the devil in him.I could feel his voice, hoarse and commanding.“Who said anything about saving? We both know one thing: when I want something, I get it. And if it means having to fight for it, then so be it.”I didn’t utter a word. He let go of the wall, and I saw him get up, smirking. His eyes shone with thrill too.“Look at you, Lisa. Huh, from hiding your eyes from me, to actually facing me, and to top it all off, you even know what you want,”
CHAPTER 5CYRUSShe actually came.I heard the door before I saw her. That soft click I was already addicted to. The one that meant she wasn’t running.I didn’t turn around. Kept my back to her, staring out the study window. The estate was dark. The garden lights made the hedges look like teeth. My reflection in the glass was a stranger. Jaw tight. Knuckles white around a whiskey glass I hadn’t touched in ten minutes.“Put your phone on the desk. Now.”My voice came out low. Flat. The voice I used when I was dismantling companies and men. The voice that made CFOs forget how to breathe.I heard her inhale. Sharp. Startled.Good. She should be.“Excuse me?”Did she just say that to me ? I turned. Slow. Controlled. Every movement was a choice. She was still in the robe. Wearing slippers. Hair still damp. But her chin was up. That new defiance was back in her eyes. The one that had poured wine on me and dared me to flinch.“You heard me.” I nodded to the black glass desk. “Phone on the D
CHAPTER 4(.. He burns.._CYRUS_I left her room. I plan to teach her a lesson at my own time.Didn’t slam the door. Didn’t look back. That’s for men who need an audience. Devils leave quietly. The damage screams The latch clicked. Soft. Final. Like a verdict. My hands were fists before I even hit the hallway. Jaw locked so tight my teeth hurt. That room still clung to me. Soap. Heat. Something clean in a house built on rot. And her voice. “Oh please, teach me a lesson, Cyrus.”Christ.She said it like she meant it. Like she wanted me to call her bluff. Like she knew exactly what she was doing to me.I hated that she was right. The hallway was long and dark. Portraits of dead Hales lined the walls, all of them watching. Judging. My great-grandfather with his war medals. My grandfather with his cold eyes. My father, younger, but already carved from the same stone. I took the stairs two at a time. Needed distance. Needed air that didn’t have her name in it.My study was on the third f
