NERIAH'S POV

I wasn't expecting anything less.

He sat there, eyes fixed on me while the disciplinary team stated that I was inconsistent with work, rude, and incompetent. Rude? I scoffed and folded my arms so they'd see rude.

Exhaling to ease myself of the anger brewing afresh in my head, I flag down a taxi. Gia was there too but while I was given probation, she was handed a query letter. So much for justice and fairness.

A cab finally rolls to a stop in front of me.

My mind scuttles towards Denver again. I don't know why I was adamant about getting him out of my life, I just knew that I needed him to leave. I don't want to be played by another smooth-talking Chadwick.

But then the way he pleaded... the way his eyes narrowed with hope in those moments, the way his lips twitched, the way he turned around to look at me on the porch.

God, what have I done?

Tears cloud my eyes at the prospect of losing Denver Chadwick, and maybe my job altogether, but I barely have time to s

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    Chapter 161

NERIAH'S POV There's a chainsaw driving through my brain. My lids flicker open, forcing my eyes to adjust to the brightness in the room. This place...there are golden chandeliers, twinkling like the stars, a ceiling fan twirling like the wings of angels. My body is bound by soft,  white sheets..these must be clouds. I must be in heaven. But...how did I die? That splitting ache pierces through my head again, bringing back the memory of the evening before. I'd dropped at a bar and then I met with someone, a lady. Who was she?Someone's palm grazes my arm causing me to squeal loudly. Grabbing the sheets over my chest, I turn to look into large, blue eyes. "What the hell?" She looks around her, confusion etched all over her expression. So she too doesn't know where she is or how she got here. "Where am I? You're that girl from the lab, aren't you?" My eyes widen with recognition. Aha! She's that lab

LAURA'S POV My phone begins to ring again. It's Liam. "Laura, where the hell are you?""Just listen to me," I cut in panting heavily, "Honey I'm in trouble, this guy has a gun and he's after me. Call the cops, I'm at Hillview Lane." He doesn't say another word. I scramble down the hill switching off the flashlight in my hand so I can feel around for something sharp to tear my tires. He must not get away with my car, that's the only thing that can keep my son and husband safe right now. My hand finally scratches something. I feel the painful tear in my skin and that makes me pick it up. It's a shard of glass. Crawling on all fours, I find my way to the tires and do a little slash until I feel the air bursting free from them. I can hear his heavy footsteps now so I find my way to a huge rock on the other side of the road so I can still see the bastard and my car. His hand is still pressed to his bleeding head when he

DENVER'S POV So this is what karma feels like. My lips part to let out puffs of smoke into the air. This is the second pack since I left Neriah at the company. Her eyes never flickered towards me, not even once. Is that how much she detests me? Is that how much she can't stand the idea of us being together? My hands fist on the table in front of me. Gia, on the other hand, kept her eyes on me as her verdict was being read, as if to tell me that she could do whatever she wanted and get away with it. Why the hell did Neriah get probation? And why the hell did I care? Sighing wearily, I set the half cigarette into the ashtray in front of me, picking up the glass of whiskey and gulping it down instead. I've never had to plead my feelings to a woman all my life, not to talk of being used and rejected. Now I don't know why I can't get her out of my fucking mind. The picture of her pale pink nipples staring at me through that white t-shirt...the image of her lips parting in plea

LAURA'S POV The first time I had a near-death experience, I was twelve years old. As the dark, bottomless pit of this glock's nozzle stares at me, that incident comes flooding my memory. If gone hiking with my father and we had an argument about my sister. I'd asked my dad why he didn't birth me first, he said he wasn't in control of those kinds of things. I was upset so I folded my hands and stormed off. My dad knew I wouldn't last long out there so he left me get a few steps ahead of me before secretly walking behind to see where I was headed. I'd not be here telling this story if he decided to waste even one minute at that point. I slipped on a stray rock and almost tumbled down the cliff if he didn't lunge himself to catch me in that moment. He broke his arm from the impact of the fall and my weight but he saved me. My eyes shut close as I will for someone to come and save me now. Then something shrill disrupts the silence. I throw my eyes open and see that his phone is

  • Married To My Ex-husband's Half-brother    Chapter 156

DENVER'S POV Something pumps in my head when he looks at her. "What do you want?" I growl, bringing his attention back to me. "You could've called and we'd set up a meeting, not showing up at a lady's house unannounced." Myles shoots up a brow at me. "I'm pretty sure you came announced. You're in just your underwear." "Enough!" Neriah's voice stops both of us. I whip around to ensure she's dressed now as she pads towards us barefoot. She's thrown another t-shirt on, for the love of God I really hopes she has something underneath this time. "What the hell are you doing here, Myles?" Atta girl. Myles shakes his head chuckling softly. "I need to talk to you, Neriah." Her gaze flickers between me and him, she's looks like she's trying to decide on what to do, then she nudges at me gently so I can leave the doorway for her. "Well we can't talk right now. I'm occupied." She attempts to slam the door in his face but he stops it with his palm. "What's going on Riah? You know you can
