Chapter 14

ALEXIS’ POV

The following week at school, I am standing by my locker, shoving some books into my backpack, when a tall familiar frame lurches on me in a bear hug, almost choking me.

I manage to peel the frame off my body after a few seconds of unsuccessful attempts, and Aurora’s laughing face greets me.

It is so crazy how much I have missed her since the past week. At the same time, I am mad at her for cutting all forms of communication with me for an entire week, when she literally knew I needed her presence around me to breathe.

“Tell me you’ve missed me.” She coos as she gives me a wink, and I fake a frown and face away from her to shut my locker close.

“No. I did not.” I give a bored reply, even though deep inside, I want to leap on her body too and hug her from all over.

“Arrgh. Come on, Alex.” She reaches for my hand, and I turn my head to face her again. “Are you mad at me because I wasn't able to reach out to you?”
