Chapter 5— Madison Avenue

"Cheers!"

Lara Daniels, Gianna, Jack, Oliver and Mia gathered at Lara's mansion on Madison Avenue to celebrate. The five of them had grown up together on Doyers street and since then, they've been inseparable. They were all poor kids living on the streets without parents or guardians, they had learned to fend and look out for each other's backs for survival. Now they were in their mid 20's, full of life and more adventures.

They became the kings and queens of the streets by stealing with ease, running dangerous illegal errands for all sorts of people, and whenever they were caught there was always some sort of smart way out of it.

"Tonight was fun!" Lara exclaimed with a bottle of bud light beer in her hand, she had already taken three bottles and she feeling dizzy and drowsy, her words were becoming slower and all she wanted to do was dance to the pop songs that were playing from the MP3 player, she was in such a happy mood!

"Cheers to friendship forever!" Gianna announced. They all clicked their bottles together in approval.

"Cheers Cheers!"

"Cheers to never being on them stupid streets again!" Lara announced again clapping her hands with tears in her eyes.

"Cheers!" They began to laugh, they just laughed and laughed and laughed some more until Lara began to cry.

"Hey Lara, what's wrong?" Mia asked with a drunken voice, she moved closer to Lara and held her to her side, both of them staggered unsteadily.

"I'm just sooo happy!" Lara answered. "It's the alcohol actually and I just keep remembering the past, how we were always hungry and dirty!" She began to sound angry.

The rest of them nodded slowly and smiled drunkenly, "But here we are Lara, we're rich!" Oliver spoke up.

"Yeah! Never going back to them street!" Jack added.

"The past is in the past L, this is the future!" Mia put in.

Lara finally decided to seat on one of the white sofas, "But at what cost guys?" She raised her eyes to study their faces but they only had smiles on their faces.

"Come on L we had no other choice, you know that!" Gianna countered her words.

"We did what we had to do!" Mia added.

"Heyyy all this talk's boring me, we're here to celebrate not reminiscence. What the hell man!" Jack tried to lighten the mood.

"I'm sorry guys don't mind me, you're right. Let's celebrate! We own this city after all!" She sniffed and stood up to dance. "Increase the volume will ya!"

"Whooo that's my girl!" Oliver cheered her on.

The gang drank and danced till their hearts content, they had fun and finally fell asleep on anywhere their backs laid on.
