You Are Pregnant

Chapter 1

Azalea's Pov

The rain patters are gentle on the roof. Not the kind that feels relaxing, but the type that makes your skin crawl in annoyance.

It has been showering since last night and probably hindered Alpha Klein from coming out to our secret roost. Or so I choose to believe.

I had sneaked out into the rain, wrapped in thick blankets and waited hours into the night. But Alpha Klein never showed up.

I sigh out for the upteempth time, forgetting again that Madam Leah is beside me. She's the maids instructor and pack doctor. That way, she can tend to our medical demands as well.

She gives me a thoughtful stare before putting away her stethoscopes. “How have you been feeling recently, Azalea?’’

In truth, heartbroken will be fitting. No matter how hard I try to resist it, I can't ease the feeling that Alpha Klein is avoiding me. It's been days since he sent for me, and I'm dying to know what's keeping him so occupied. If only I can get as much as an explanation.

“Not very differently.’’ I answer to Madam Leah, swallowing the bitterness in my throat as I sit up from the clinic bed.

“Have you been seeing a man?’’ Madam Leah throws again, squeezing a breath from my lungs.

“No, I haven't.’’ The lie slips my lips quickly.

I have infact been sleeping with a man. A man that is my mate but won't claim me publicly. And I can't even blame him, it's enough that he accepted a wolfless servant omega like me. An Alpha like him deserves a better mate, a Luna material which I'm not…. Yet.

I admired Alpha Klein for years while working as a servant in the packhouse, every girl did. Then three years ago, right at the middle of the meteor ceremony, I discovered he was my fated mate. With his ocean blue orbs radiating a mesmerizing golden hue, he'd called me Mate.

I had expected him to reject me on the spot, instead he took me away and marked me that very night. Our first night was everything I dreamed of, until the next morning, he stared coldly at me and rebuked me from his bed. He called me wolfless and warned me to never mention anything about that night to anyone. I thought that would be the end for us…. But no. He became obsessed with the idea of having sex with me, while all I've done is love him more after every sweet love-making.

“How then do we explain these results?” Madam Leah’s voice jolts me, her eyes judging above her spectacles “You are six weeks pregnant, Azalea.’’

My blood runs cold, lump growing in my throat as Madam Leah watches me like a study experiment.

Pregnant?

That can't be. Not right now. I haven't gotten my wolf yet, and until I do Alpha Klein cannot claim me publicly as his mate. He didn’t say so himself, but the fact that he hasn't rejected me means he still wants me.

I grab Madam Leah’s hand out of reflex, my heart thudding in my chest “Please Madam Leah, you can't tell anybody about this.’’

She frowns, surprised by my reaction. “Tell me, Azalea. Who have you been involved with?’’

I shake my head, my eyes pooling with tears already. Alpha Klein demanded that we keep our mate bond and affair a secret, and how do I even tell anyone that I'm involved with the Alpha? A low rank traitor blood like me? It won't be weird if they call me crazy.

“I'll let you think it over while we serve the Alpha family's lunch. By tonight you must give me explanations or face the Luna.’’ Madam Leah threatens, her frown still intact as she walks out of the ward.

I squeeze my belly with a han, sweat pouring down my neck. I should be the happiest person that I'm carrying the Alpha's pub, the heir to Crystal moon pack. But it's the total opposite. I'm not together with my mate, which makes my pregnancy an abomination with charges of banishment from the pack.

A shiver runs down my spine at the thought.

I must get to Alpha Klein and let him know about it.

I have prepared a note, telling Alpha Klein to meet me at our roost tonight; I have something urgent to tell him.

I squeeze the note in my palm as we set the Alpha family's table. Madam Leah keeps stifling quiet glances at me and that makes it harder to plant the note.

Once the elevator doors open, I take the distraction to stylishly sweep my note under the ceramics meant for Alpha Klein.

Luna Emily's heels announces her entrance first, with her usual straight face and elegance that no one dares to irritate. She's Alpha Klein’s mother, and princess Ruby is walking beside her. My breath stops, knowing who's coming out next. And his scent soon infiltrates my nose.

Strong cedar mixed with mint chocolate flavour, the aroma that always makes my stomach twist in a mix of fright and excitement. He doesn't spare a glance my way, yet I can't take my eyes off him. Especially with the grave news I now carry.

My attention is quickly distracted when a slender figure steps out after him, and I'm forced to realise that he has been waiting for her. She's clad in a sophisticated red dress that stops on her mid-thigh. Long orange hair, obviously soaked with dye, and perfect white skin that I can only dream about having. Spotless. Flawless.

My heart skips beats as she slips her hand in Alpha Klein's slightly opened arm, and he escorts her to the table.

She’s Aurelia. Alpha Klein's childhood bestfriend….or sweetheart? I hate to remember that part. She disappeared three years ago, after the meteor ceremony. My guts feelings tells me she left because she didn't get mated to Alpha Klein again. Everyone thought they'd be mates, even till now they still matchmake them.

Why is she back here?

Her eyes meet mine, and I see a small smirk cross her lips. She stops in front of me, pulling Alpha Klein back.

‘‘Azalea?’’ Her voice is filled with false surprise.

Of course she knows me. She would never forget me after the incident years ago, when she tried to lock me in a basement for adding cinnamon to her cookies but Alpha Klein had saved me. I fell in love with that eighteen year old boy who stepped in like my knight in shining armor.

“It's so good to see you again, Azalea.’’ Aurelia says again, smiling innocently. Like the sight of me doesn't irritate her just as much as seeing her irritates me.

“I didn't know you were visiting.’’ I force a strained smile, struggling to keep my eyes from her tucked arm with my mate's.

“Visiting? Not quite.’’ She looks up at Alpha Klein, and he plants a short kiss on her lips, stabbing what little piece of my heart is remaining.

He has never kissed me.

With me, it's always a straight face, commands I dare not disobey, and informal conversations that demands only my answers. He even demanded that I say his name with title. But I've never complained, or think it's so unfair.

Until now.

Now that I watch him look at another woman with emotions he's never showed me, without even caring about my presence.

Unlike Aurelia, I'm neither beautiful nor sophisticated. I could compare to a bag of trash and she a bag of treasures, a contrasting opposite to her charms.

Aurelia's giggle is like needles to my heart as she turns back to me, sticking her arm tighter in Alpha Klein's grip.

“I'm here to stay this time. As your Luna.’’
