“You’ve been avoiding me,” sabi ko.

“You asked for space,” sagot niya.

“I asked for control, we should control our emotions because I don’t want to do anything that would breach the contract again.” sabi ko. “Not distance. That's different.”

He ran a hand through his hair. “You’re blurring the line again.”

“Because the line is already blurred,” sagot ko. “You just don’t want to admit it.”

His jaw tightened. “This isn’t the place for this conversation.” alam nya pala pero dito rin naman nya piniling i-approach ako.

“Then when?” tanong ko. “When the deal ends? When everything’s over?”

He didn’t answer. That hurt more than I expected.

Saturday came quietly.

No meetings. No calls. No emergencies, for once.

I was at home, sitting by the window, staring at nothing. Papa was resting. Mama was in the kitchen. The h

Damian's POVSaturday came with an illusion of calm. No meetings. Just a rest day. I stayed in my condo longer than necessary. I t ried to rest and I tried to think. But Instead, I kept replaying the week in my head. Her voice when she was annoyed. The way she avoided looking at me. The exhaustion she tried to hide behind competence.By late afternoon, I knew we couldn’t skip the charity dinner. Key stakeholders. Optics mattered. So I messaged her.We need to attend the charity dinner tonight. She asked if it was mandatory. I said yes. That alone should have told me something, that she was already tired of obligations. When I picked her up at exactly 7 PM, she stepped out of the house wearing a simple, elegant dress. Nothing flashy. But she looks really stunning. I didn't noticed I was staring at her.For a second, I forgot how to speak.“You look… presentable,” I said out-of-nowhere and immediately regretting it.She called me out, of course. Kaya hinayaan ko na. Ayoko na makipagtal

Damian’s POVIsang linggo. Liana.Kung titingnan mo sa labas, everything was working. The company was stabilizing. Investors were calmer than before. The board was satisfied. On paper, I was doing exactly what I was brought in to do.But personally? I was failing at something I didn’t even want to admit I was trying to fix.Every morning, I arrived early, earlier than usual. Not because I needed to, but because there was a chance she’d already be there. And she always was. She’d be seated at the conference table, laptop open, reports neatly stacked, pen aligned perfectly with the edge of the table. Focused but too distant.I tried to approach her several times. Casual attempts. But she is always busy with the paper works.

On paper, everything was improving.

After two hours of brutal honesty, numbers, and decisions, parang naupos ang lahat. When the meeting ended, one by one, lumabas ang mga tao. Naiwan kami ni Damian, kasama sina Mama at Papa. Papa exhaled deeply. “You didn’t hold back.” Habang tinatapik ang balikat ni damian. Damian nodded. “I don’t believe in false comfort, sir. But I also don’t walk away once I commit.” Tumango si Papa. “What do we do first?” Damian glanced at me briefly, then back to Papa. “We restructure. Immediately. Some people will have to go. Some departments will be merged. And you,” tumingin siya kay Papa, “need to step back for now. Focus on your health.” Papa frowned. “This company is my life.” “And that’s exactly why you need to let others fight for it right now,” sagot ni Damian. “You built it. Let us save it.” I reached for Papa’s

Maldives felt like a pause. The Philippines felt like reality crashing back in.
