TESTS AND TENSIONS

Saying goodbye was harder than everything we had been through these past few days. Battles, fear, secrets—I could handle all of that. But leaving this pack, after everything we’d uncovered and survived together, felt different. It felt unfinished.

“It has to be done,” I told myself quietly. “For now.”

Before we left, we sent letters to each of the missing girls’ parents, reassuring them that we were still working on finding their daughters and that they were not alone in this. It wasn’t much, but it was all we could give them for now.

In the courtyard, Luna Sofia pulled Maya aside.

“This is for you,” she said softly, placing a beautifully carved flute in Maya’s hands. The instrument shimmered faintly, glowing with a gentle magical aura.

Maya’s eyes widened. “It’s… beautiful.”

“It belonged to my grandmother,” Luna Sofia replied. “It amplifies light magic. I think it will serve you better than it ever served me.”
