Chapter 4

DAWN:

"What are you doing? Get your hand off me!" He protests as I drag him away from the hallway. I don't even know where I'm running to but I know I can't leave him there or they would kill him. I'm sure that's what they are here for.

I didn't even bother responding to his question but I could feel him attempting to wriggle his wrist out of my hand. And he was this close to slipping out of my reach before I decided to put more force on the grip.

In my head I could only wonder just how weak he is.

"Didn't you hear me? I said let me go!" he claims just as we begin to go down the stairs. Is he living in some sort of mansion?

"Would you rather stay in there and let them kill you? Or would you follow me and save yourself?" I ask him without stopping.

"Are you insane? Why will I want to go with you?"

"So you're comfortable if I let them have you?"

He doesn't say anything to do that. And I'm glad he doesn't because it gives me a chance to heighten my hearing to all what was going on around.

Right before we could get to the doorway which possibly leads out of his apartment, I could feel a force coming our way. Which is why I swiftly turn around, putting Russell behind me and then sending a punch at the force. It was one of the warriors and the punch hit him right in the face, knocking him down in the process.

Another one came at us but I was able to put him down on the floor in time. This happened two more times and it looked like it was easy for me but my hands were suffering from the hits. I just have to make do with this. At least that is until I see Gamma Connor.

I was no match for him. There's no way I can have a go at him and succeed. He's going to beat me fair and square.

So to save both my skin and Russell's, I take out the ring from my pocket. "Take this," I say as I force it into his hand. "Whatever happens, just throw the ring in the air and it's going to create a portal for you to go through. But make sure the destination you think of is somewhere that you'll be safe."

"I don't want any part of this bullshit you and your friends are displaying in my apartment," he states, outrightly declining the ring.

"Why will my friends try to kill me? Can't you see what they're trying to do?"

"It just might be a joint plot into deceiving me."

I was already frustrated with his attitude. "Does this look like child's play to you?" I ask, almost snapping at him. "You think everything's just an act, right?"

"Enough!"

The authoritativeness from that has me turning around to look ahead. When I do so, I see Gamma Connor seething with rage.

"Is that the boy who you think is right to rule us?" Gamma Connor asks, disgust filling his tone.

"What do you think?"

"I'm not going to say this a second time," he starts to say, "Hand him over now and we'll let you live even with the act of treason you displayed."

"I have a question to ask you, Gamma Connor. Are you called the Alpha's dog because you follow him around or are you called his dog because you have nothing going on up there? Because if you look at everything, you will know I didn't come this far to just hand him over. But I guess you can't think for yourself which is why you—"

I couldn't even complete the statement before I'm hit across the chest. My body flies straight into Russell's and we both crash out of the apartment and into the main street.

Hearing Russell groan in pain as I stood up to my feet made me pity him. He's not strong enough for what is going on here.

I know Gamma Connor was going to have another go at me which is why I decided to change the pattern of things. And before he could hit me, I shift into my wolf form, bringing out my brown wolf who stopped his arm by biting into it. That little act was enough to help me throw him far away from me.

I know that wasn't going to stop him so my wolf jumps at him as he's about to hit the ground. And then I claw at him with my paws, creating marks on his face. But it still wasn't enough to subdue him.

He throws me off of him and then hits my wolf as hard as he can, sending air out of my lungs. I couldn't breathe properly even in this form and I find myself gasping for air.

"You thought this was enough to stop me?" the Gamma says. "You've clearly forgotten who you are. You're just an ordinary omega who has no way to watch the things she says or do. And that's why your friend is going to suffer for it just like this boy will."

Hearing the word 'friend' brought me back to reality. Was he talking about Thomas? Have they done anything to him?

I couldn't speak in this form. But I knew how to do something else. I didn't let the Gamma reel in the talk of his attempt to take me down before I used my fore paws to kick at him, making him lose balance a bit.

Russell was still where he was. As I made my way over to him in my wolf form, I could see that he was in shock. Right before I get to his front, I switch back to my normal form or whatever it is I can call it.

"Where's the ring?" I ask him, already noticing that the warriors were coming at us now.

When I briefly look around, I noticed we were now the center of attention. Humans were around and they held similar items up at us as if to get through everything. But Russell's attention was highly fixated on me.

"What's the problem? Never seen a naked woman before?" I ask, snapping him out of his reverie as he hands the ring back to me.

The truth is that I'm without clothes at the moment and it happened from shifting into my wolf without taking them off beforehand. Now I will have to walk around without anything. At least until I find new clothes to wear.

I throw the ring up in the air and a portal is created, sending a heavy gust of wind sweeping across my face. I didn't even bother looking at Russell's face to know he was more shocked than this.

"Russell. We have to go in now," I inform him. "Trust me. It's for your own good."

For a second he looks from the portal to my face as if deliberating. And when I see that he's not going to decide in time, I grab him by the hand and then jump into the portal with him.

This time I landed somewhere familiar. Somewhere I could even call my home.

I was back in my world.
