Leo's POV The dreams were becoming a daily occurrence now, every night, I was plagued by the awareness that there was something out there whose destiny was to kill me. Getting a seer had not helped too as the only thing it had done was to increase my anxiety. Bravery was a fallacy when you didn't know what exactly was coming for you. I paced on my balcony, a place that has become my solace in the past few days. Sophia was continuously nagging me about what the seer had said but I couldn't tell her, I didn't feel the need to let her know the inner turmoil that was going on inside of me. The council has spoken to me about the curb of attacks caused by the ghost hunters. It was a relief, a bright light in the darkness that has enshrined me in its cocoon since the nightmares began. Each time, I worked up enough courage to fight the silver wolf, it defeated me like I was nothing, rendering me powerless with wounds like a common soldier in battle. The fear I felt each time deepened by th
Maria's POV "You forgive me?" I asked Elvira as she stood in front of my house. "You are a donkey, but I have come to see your point. I mean you are simply pregnant and do not want to have anything to do with this men" she said and hugged me. I pulled her in and together we sat on the floor of the living room, she drank wine while I had the orange juice that Alexia had pressed for me before she left. "Alexia has found her mate," I said and Elvira whipped her head up to meet my gaze. "You can't even be serious. There's no way that she could have. She is probably being deceived" she said and I laughed. "I'm serious, I mean, the only reason she is not around is because she has to meet with him. She spoke to me about it earlier today. I have her the time off. I understand how the mating bond can be" I said and Elvira looked genuinely horrified. "Alexia is less than the mating span and today is not even the full moon, there is absolutely no way she would have found her mate yet," El
Elijah's POV "What the bloody hell man? That's her maid. Do you not have a bit of self-control in you anymore?" I bellowed at Nathan as he stood there smirking satisfactorily at me. "She wanted even more than I did, and I mean, the lad isn't a kid. She knew what she wanted and she came right for it." He said to me, not a single trace of remorse in his voice. "And you couldn't say no? What if Maria actually liked you? Have you considered what this would mean? Because that girl told Maria that she had found her mate, happily announced it to her and I was right there" I said, dragging a tired hand through my hair."Why are you so upset about what a maid does? Don't tell me that you also wanted the same thing I did. Alexia carried the rich scent of Maria with her and forgive me, I couldn't resist that sweet scent, no matter how forbidden it is" he said and sat down right in front of me, his eyes glued to mine as if daring me to see what I would do. "You don't love her at all. You are
Maria's POV "Leo, you found me?" I gasped, seeing the crazy image of the man I had tried so hard to run away from and forget in the past few months. "Did you really think that I never will?" He asked me, his eyes enraged as I saw that the only thing standing between me and my death was the few feet that he stood away from me. "Stay away from me!" I yelled and kicked furiously as he lunged for me. "Why should I? You have something that belongs to me" he said as his callused hands caressed my stomach. I flinched and tried to move away from him but he grabbed my head, throwing me roughly on the wall, not minding the condition that I was in. "You are going to kill me!" I yelled at him, willing myself to fight back but I saw the blood running down my legs. I held my stomach to feel for anything at all but there was nothing and Leo didn't look like he had the intention of ending the hurt he was causing me anytime soon."But if I don't, you will," he said and lunged for my neck. I was
Leo's POV The guard has been gone for two days now and yet, there was still no sign of him. I needed to know what was going on as the suspense was killing me, still I couldn't tell anyone, not even Sophia of the step that I had taken. This was my battle and I was not going to drag any other person into it. "You look like you have a lot on your mind. Want to share?" She asked me but I shook my head. "I'm fine. I've just had a lot to think about in the past few days. Why are you here?" I asked her, knowing that she never came to my study unless she wanted something. "I want to go to my people. For a while. My mom has been really worried. I have a feeling that she has heard what is going on in the pack here, especially seeing that the last victim had died in my stead" she explained and I pointed at the seat in front of me. "You really think I am going to put your life in danger?" I asked her. "Of course not, I know you will do everything within your power to protect me, I'm only sc
Leo's POV There was obviously a problem and it was now more evident than ever that this was a large-scale plan against my leadership. Three people have all died, people connected to the palace in the last few days and tensions were beginning to grow amongst the people. I also could not explain the dreams that I was having. "Have you checked on the lady?" I asked the nurses, as they had been going in and out of Sophia's room. She had passed out after seeing the body of her dear maid. I understood her pain, knowing how much she had loved Arya. I couldn't exactly pinpoint why the servants in the palace were being targeted by this killer."Yes, my king. She is stabilized now, you can go in and see her" the head nurse said to me just as she stepped out and closed the door gently behind her. I gave her a nod and made my way to the bedroom, where I saw that Sophia was sitting forlornly on her chair on the balcony, staring at nothing in particular. I went to her and gently held her but she
