"Tell me, why don't you moan out loud when I was fucking you" Marchen asked with a devilish grin, his arrogant tone dripping with mockery.
"I don't know," AnniBerry replied. "Maybe it's because you're too selfish and arrogant. All I can think about is how I became your sex toy. That thought is so deeply rooted in my mind that I forget to moan. I'm sorry."
"Sorry?" Marchen stepped closer until only inches separated them. His broad chest towered over her, his well-defined abs making him look even more intimidating. A devilish grin spread across his face.
"Did you just say sorry to me, Anni?"
"Anni, my love, you've been disrespecting me a lot lately. Do you want me to teach you a lesson you'll never forget? Have you forgotten how easily I can get women of any status to lie in my bed while I fuck them hard?"
Disgust flashed across AnniBerry's face as she stared into his eyes.
"Then let me go. Stop calling me over just for sex. Stop treating me like a dog. Even a dog is treated better than the way you treat me. Just stop calling me!" she shouted, the veins in her neck almost visible with rage. She was annoyed, so annoyed of being discarded by Marchen like a sex toy when he came. Ever since her cousin accidentally broke the windshield of his Tesla. It was a fatal accident that led to a misery in AnniBerry's life and she needs to be with Machen for protection from some unknown people.
Three weeks earlier......
AnniBerry was at a restaurant with her cousin, Merrilyn. Merrilyn had just won the award for the Best Chef in Florida. She had competed against five other chefs and emerged victorious. Since AnniBerry was both her favorite cousin and her only true friend, Merrilyn invited her out to celebrate. AnniBerry arrived at the restaurant on her power bike. After parking it near the entrance, she walked inside and joined Merrilyn at their table.
"You really shouldn't be riding that bike anymore, Anni," Merrilyn said, concern evident in her voice.
"Don't worry, cuz. I'll fix the brakes next week when I get paid," AnniBerry replied with a reassuring smile.
"I still don't understand how you managed to ride it all the way here," Merrilyn said, shaking her head.
"Oh, come on, Merry. The brakes still work. You just have to know when and how to apply them. It's easy, AnniBerry said with a confident smile.
Merrilyn's face lit up with excitement. She had always wanted to ride AnniBerry's bike, but AnniBerry constantly complained about its faulty brakes, so she had never been given the chance. Hearing that the brakes still worked, even if they required careful handling, filled her with excitement. She silently promised herself that she would ride the bike before the day ended.
The cousins enjoyed a delicious pepperoni pizza, famous for being one of the best in Florida and a favorite of theirs. They chatted about everything they could think of, laughing so loudly that they disturbed the peaceful atmosphere of the restaurant. Fortunately, no one dared to complain. It was a public place, after all. When they finally finished eating, they gathered their belongings and prepared to leave.
"AnniBerry.." Merrilyn called, wearing a pleading expression. "Can I ride your bike today? Please?"
"My bike?" AnniBerry asked, surprised.
She was secretly happy that Merrilyn no longer saw her bike as something dangerous and finally wanted to ride it. But almost immediately, her excitement faded.
No.
Only she had mastered how to handle the bike despite its faulty brakes. Letting someone else ride it felt like handing them danger. She wanted to make Merrilyn happy, yet fear tightened its grip around her heart. An internal battle raged within her.
Finally, she forced a smile.
"Okay... let's go."
Merrilyn's face brightened instantly. She grabbed her handbag and rushed out of the restaurant as though she had been set free.
"The keys!" she said excitedly, stretching out both hands like a little child waiting for candy.
Smiling nervously, AnniBerry placed the keys in her cousin's hands. Merrilyn immediately gripped the bike's handlebars, swung one leg over the seat, and settled onto it. She planted both feet on the foot pegs and started the engine. Before AnniBerry could stop her or give a final warning, Merrilyn twisted the throttle. The motorcycle shot forward. AnniBerry's smile disappeared. Fear instantly flooded her face as she realized what was happening. Everything had happened so quickly that she hadn't expected Merrilyn to ride off without listening to her instructions.
"The brakes!" AnniBerry screamed at the top of her lungs, waving her arms frantically.
"Merrilynnnn!!! The brakessss!! But the roar of the engine drowned out her voice.
"No" she cried, sprinting after the speeding motorcycle with all the strength she had.
Merrilyn's heart pounded violently as she sped down the road. She reached for the brake lever and squeezed it. Nothing happened. Her eyes widened in horror.
"No... no..."
She squeezed the brake lever again, this time with more force. The motorcycle refused to slow down. Panic surged through her body. She gripped the handlebars tightly and desperately pumped the brake lever again and again, but the bike continued racing forward as though it had a mind of its own.
"Oh my God!" she screamed.
Right ahead of her, parked outside a nearby fuel station, was a sleek blue Tesla. The owner was nowhere in sight. The motorcycle was heading straight toward it.
"No!" Merrilyn cried, her voice breaking with terror.
She tried one last time to stop the bike, clamping down on the brake lever with all her strength. It was useless. The distance between the motorcycle and the Tesla disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Crash!
The motorcycle slammed into the front windshield of the Tesla with a deafening impact. Glass exploded into the air, scattering across the pavement as the force of the collision threw Merrilyn off the bike.
Her body flew through the air before crashing heavily onto the ground.
Everything went silent.
Back at the restaurant, AnniBerry had lost sight of her cousin. She kept running, her heart pounding so hard it felt ready to burst from her chest.
"Please be okay," she whispered between gasps.
"Please... don't let anything happen to her."
Moments later, the wail of approaching sirens shattered the silence. Police vehicles and ambulances sped past her toward the fuel station. Her breathing became uneven.
"No..." she whispered.
"No.. no.. no.."
Ignoring the pain burning through her legs, AnniBerry forced herself to run even faster. When she finally reached the fuel station, a crowd had already gathered around the accident. She pushed through the onlookers with trembling hands.
Then she saw it. The shattered blue Tesla. Her mangled motorcycle lying on its side. Broken glass covering the ground.
And Merrilyn...
Lying motionless in a pool of blood.
AnniBerry's world came crashing down. Her knees gave way beneath her.A piercing scream escaped her lips before darkness swallowed her whole.
She blacked out.
CHAPTER 22Anniberry followed Ashley into the house, and she couldn’t help but wonder why everything was pink. The walls, the tables, the chairs, the doormat—almost everything her eyes landed on was pink.“Sit down, Strawberry,” Ashley said to Anniberry.Anniberry turned to her with a slightly disgusted look.“It’s AnniBerry,” she corrected.Ashley burst into loud laughter. “My house, my rules,” she said mockingly.Anniberry rolled her eyes and sat down on the sofa. She folded her arms and continued observing the place. After a while, she pulled out her phone and logged into Facebook, hoping to find a message from Merrilyn, Mark, or, better yet, anything that could give her information about what was happening. But to her disappointment, there was nothing.A few minutes later, Ashley walked over to her.“What you feel like eating?” she asked, loudly chewing her gum.Anniberry gave her a stern look.“Thanks. I’m good,” she replied.Ashley let out a small giggle.“I see you’re still try
“Father, where is Ella?” Marchen asked the elderly man when he got back into his office. The elderly man looked surprised. Marchen had never asked about Ella whenever he came around. He studied Marchen curiously. “Why do you need her?” the elderly man asked. “I just want to see her,” Marchen demanded. Immediately, the elderly man could tell that something was wrong. He figured Marchen must have found out something, but he kept his composure. “She might be attending to the injury she sustained yesterday during a fight in the ghetto,” the elderly man replied smoothly. Marchen looked at him sharply. “She got into a gunfight yesterday?” he asked curiously. “Yes. The guy shot her in the hand, but luckily, I had him arrested,” the elderly man said. Marchen immediately bought the story. He smiled faintly, almost unable to believe that he had actually suspected Father of having something to do with the attack at his home. “Okay, Father,” Marchen said before walking out of
Marchen gently dragged AnniBerry to a corner of the room and made her crouch behind the door. He held his gun firmly with both hands, his eyes scanning the room cautiously. He slowly made his way into the sitting room, bending his head to avoid exposing himself in case another bullet was fired. As soon as he noticed where the previous bullet had come from, he immediately dropped to the floor and rolled toward the window. He carefully raised his head and looked outside, trying to see who had shot at them. There was no one in sight. Marchen frowned. Who had shot at them? He quickly rolled away from the window and made his way toward the front door. Once outside, he looked around, but all he saw was a van speeding away from the house. He exhaled deeply before rushing back inside. His eyes immediately fell on AnniBerry, who was still lying unconscious on the floor, he dropped his gun on the floor and for a moment, he considered carrying her on his shoulders to the car, but he q
Marchen looked at AnniBerry with deep, pleading eyes. He couldn’t risk letting her go. Right now, he was certain that someone had been sent to his house to either kill him or AnniBerry. But deep down, he knew the target was not him. He couldn’t afford to take his hands off her wrist as he tried to stop her from leaving. “AnniBerry, listen to me.” Marchen looked at her desperately. “If I have ever done any despicable things to you, please find a way in your heart to... to... forgive me,” he said in a low tone. Marchen couldn’t believe he had just asked for forgiveness. He had never pleaded with anyone in his life, yet here he was, begging a woman to forgive him. AnniBerry quickly snatched her wrist from his grip. “I have a life. I have things I need to do. I have a family, even though I lost my parents. I cannot sit in your house like a cripple. I need to leave,” AnniBerry said, raising her voice. Marchen thought about what he could say to her, but nothing came to mind. He ha
