“How much of it is about the portal?” Cassidy asked, jumping right in. Ward carefully opened the book to a point about three-fourths of the way into the volume, which looked to be about three hundred pages long. The sheets were a discolored yellow, and the ink, had clearly changed colors in several places, varying from a dark black to a lighter gray. It was clear the entire tome had been handwritten. Cadence envisioned an ancient Vampire sitting down with squid’s ink or the blood of a freshly beheaded chicken to dip his crooked talon in a well and scratch each letter out on the page.

For just a second the pain stopped. I quickly opened up the book to a random page once the aching in my chest started back up. The first page I set eyes on didn't even have a fighting chance. I stabbed it and tore though it not even giving anyone a chance to react. Slowly the page started to catch on fire and ash instantly formed. Once the page completely turned to ash I lifted up the book and brushed off the pieces that use to be the page. A siren started inside the room and multiple screens filled the walls. I spun around going through all universes and landed on the universe I knew it was reporting on.

Why rip out only one page? I read the numbers in the corners of the pages on either side, noting that they took page sixty-three. So I turn to the contents page at the start of the book. I skim down the list, until I find it. Song of The Sea Maiden ……………………… p63 The sea maiden. The beach. The dreams. The answers are right in front of me. I just can’t see them yet.

Whatever the case may be, there was only one way to find out. I grabbed my phone and dialed Ginny's number. She answered on the first ring. "Hey, Keera. What's up?" Her voice was light but curious. I picked up the book again, inspecting the worn out pages under the lamp resting on my nightstand. If Ginny heard my aggressive flipping, she didn't comment on it. "Keera?" She called out warily when I had been quiet for too long. I had flipped to the last page. No other page had been torn. Just the page that according to the book's table of contents was under the section labeled portions.

Smaller ones, thin like an old bible, yellowed with page break apart. Once there pages were successfully separated, I carefully put the knife down, not wanting to slice any pages or myself. The pages smelt like mould and looked ancient, they looked like they would be grimy to the touch but they felt like silk. The amount of small little pages were like a book of their own, how could this be hidden away for so long and no one notice it?

After reading the letter again and again for a minutes, she keeps it aside and opens the bag. The first thing that she takes out is a lilac satin fabric. When she holds it up, it looks torn and burnt from all sides. It’s soaked in red. Her nose twitches as she smells the blood. She keeps it on the table in front of her and takes out the next thing. A book. A huge thick book with more than 800 pages. It has a dark brown hardcover with golden edges. She opens the book only to look at letters and symbols that doesn’t make any sense to her. Pursing her lips, she keeps it aside too.

What was it doing here? I picked it up and was scared to open it. The terror of reading the things I had been accused of doing to Stacie made my fingers grow cold as I rubbed the corner of a page. I finally found the courage to open the book, but the pages were empty. "What? What is this?" I began to flip through frantically and reaffirmed that the pages were devoid of any writing. The only words in the entire book were on the very first page. "The pain of life is only so accurate to the one who feels it first hand..."

Without my knowledge, the book slipped out of my hand and I looked down at the book like I'm facing the real ghost and the sentence read, "...eyes, pale skin human." I desperately need to find the missing 30 pages. Damn!! Those 30 pages could have everything about the Heil!!!! *
