Premonition, a feeling of imminent disaster. It has been a lot like that lately, the constant need to check around myself to be sure I was present. The startled jerk in the middle of the night checking on Blair and her well being. It didn’t help with the fact that I felt like eyes were constantly watching me. I had heard nothing from Kevin since the night he had found Blair and I in her tent.

“Yeah. So, I should probably start by telling you I am Moon Blessed. Well, both my sister and I are Moon Blessed, Joshua.” “Moon Blessed, how?” “We both have premonitions and can feel when trouble is coming our way. Last night, I had one of these premonitions. My sister did too. For whatever reason, it transmits to my mother, so she knows as well.” Dad interrupted. “This has been happening since Sable was pregnant with Jude and Jordyn. They have a connection that is really remarkable.” Uncle Jett then asked, “So the premonition…what was it?”

How might I battle against something I don't have the foggiest idea? I watch the haunting animal, at its shady structure and its dazzling red eyes. They are like lasers, tearing into me, holding onto my dread and intensifying it. My heart beats quicker as the alarming eyes squint, assurance in their profundities. Premonition races through my blood, representing what is to come.

And that was the first warning. I sat on the edge of the cold slab they called a bed, eyes open, fixed, but unfocused. Staring into nothing. I hadn’t blinked in a while. Not because I wasn’t tired. I was. But sleep wouldn’t come. I’d say couldn't . That thing… that premonition that had gripped my spine all day, it was back. Stronger. Meaner. It dragged its claws down my back like it wanted to peel my instincts raw. Usually by now, they’d toss me that god-awful tray of dog food through the gate like they were feeding a rabid beast. But tonight… They were late.

I gagged, bile rising in my throat, and clutched my stomach as a wave of nausea rolled through me. “What...was that?” My voice trembled, the words barely escaping my dry, cracked lips. Aryna’s presence stirred in the back of my mind, her tone gentle yet laced with concern. “Was it a nightmare?” I shook my head weakly, the motion making me dizzy. “No,” I croaked, barely able to get the word out. “Not just a nightmare. A premonition.” I sat frozen for several moments, the weight of the fear suffocating. Though the details of the dream had already begun to slip away, the residual terror clung to me, gnawing at the edges of my sanity.

I hardly have slept for images of that dead girl and the fear of every noise. While I worry for him, I also fear him coming for me. Every sound or shadow cause me to lurch and jump. I have this feeling of an impending doom, like someone is out for me or going to betray me. Barima had told me once that before she got her premonitions, that she developed a strong paranoia, and that paranoia turned out to be advanced intuition. This does little to comfort me, only adding to my ever growing list of worries. Along with Noxodius possibly appearing out of nowhere.

I nodded without hesitation. "Until now, there has been no specialized knowledge that can explain the meaning of premonitions. So, if I experience that, I probably won't know what to do either, unless there's a clue?" she said flatly. And that flat remark made me turn to him. "Guidance?" He nodded without hesitation. "Like what?" I urged urgently. He sighed. "Perhaps, clues can be sought from what is happening, being experienced, or being felt." I fell silent for an instant.

As Darlene settled into the driver’s seat, she looked back at him through the glass. It was only a glance. Brief. Unreadable, but something about it unsettled him. Jonathan stood alone in the silent apartment, staring after the car. A strange feeling twisted low in his stomach. It wasn't fear or regret. It was something quieter. Something colder. An instinct that whispered only one word._Premonition.

And yet, I was dying to know more about the symbolization behind the vision, and by proxy my recurring dream, as it might have been my way out of waking up drenched in sweat almost every night. “I don’t think it’s like a symbolization but more so a premonition,” she answered my question. “It feels more like a section of your future memories, memories that you hadn’t yet experienced if it makes sense.” It didn’t. It actually made my concerns worse. I could feel the blood draining from my face as I walked out of the room, only to be welcomed by Bella’s shocked expression: “What in the world happened to you in there?” ~
