Her head snapped toward him with a grinding crack, her gaze glowing pure amethyst. Then she whispered—slowly, like each syllable was carved in agony: “She’s waking him.” Kael’s blood turned to ice. Aria. She was alive. Somewhere in the Godgrave, she was calling to something—awakening something older, hungrier, more catastrophic than even the Second God. “What is she awakening?” Kael whispered. Then I set my alarm for five. The pack territory was shrouded in mist in the early morning. I sat in my car, parked in the shadows of the trees outside the main house's side entrance. At five forty-five, Liam's black SUV pulled out of the garage. He didn't drive towards the pack administrative area, but headed for the city center. I followed, keeping a safe distance. It was Luna instinct—to track, to sense, to protect the territory. Except this time, I was tracking my mate.

Think of it like falling asleep. We'll shift back when the sun rises and then I'll take you to your surprise." He ended with a playful smile. I rolled my eyes at him. It was the suffocating, oily heat of a medical pod. The Awakening Aero’s eyes snapped open. He wasn't standing in a sacred grove. He was suspended in a viscous, conductive gel, his body crisscrossed with a thousand micro-filaments that pulsed with a dull, rhythmic green light. A respirator was jammed down his throat, pumping oxygen and a cocktail of synthetic adrenaline into his lungs. With a muffled roar, he shattered the glass of the pod.

“Wake up, Aurora! Wake up!” Aurora bolted upright with a strangled scream. Sweat drenched her skin. Her chest heaved like she’d been running for hours. She blinked through the darkness, disoriented—until she felt the warmth of strong arms wrap around her. “Aurora,” Aries’ voice was low, panicked, yet soothing. “Aurora, it’s me. You’re safe. Wake up.” She gasped for air, clutching at his bare chest. But her eyes were still haunted. She wasn’t fully back yet.
