"Did you hear anything?" Maya smiled eagerly, and the lieutenant leaned forward. "Yes. I heard dogs. They were barking a lot." Lex's intended mate questioned her for several minutes more, but Maya stuck to her story. Finally the interview came to an end, and Maya, on impulse, asked a question of her own. "I hear you're looking for an alien. A big lizard one," she threw in for good measure. "What will you do if you find him?" asked Maya. Lieutenant Beckworth smiled, a tight-lipped smile that didn't reach her eyes, and that chilled Maya to the core. "Nobody ever said anything about an alien, but if such a thing were found, it would be apprehended and kept in government custody."

New invading aliens We hid behind a rock outcrop and watched the doors open on the metallic crafts. I couldn't see anything from the steam being released. Then I saw them. They were tall, slender with iridescent green skin. Hairless and had huge dark almond shaped eyes. They were using breathing apparatus and running tests on the ground. They stuck a long metal rod into the ground and lava actually boiled up through the hole making them chatter gleefully. I glanced at Marwan and he looked angry.

Her steps were light and nimble as she scoured through the empty alley leading towards the attic. She was about to step in through the large gates of the attic when she sensed movement from inside. She quickly hid behind a wall and watched as one of the vanguards march past her, not noticing her standing her behind on if the walls. The avatar then proceeded again to wall through the arch walls and made her way into the attic. She advanced through the building unnoticed and soon found herself in the core of the tower.

I stood still in front of the door of the attic; staring around the shabby small place, planning on how I will organize the place very well in not getting in any trouble with the evil alpha. “Follow me, miss.” We stepped into a fancy elevator right inside the house. It moved up smoothly and quietly. She pressed the button for the last floor and counted sixteen levels. When the doors opened, we stepped into a cute little attic room. It was small but charming. A single bed sat in the middle with clean sheets. The roof had glass panels that opened up to the sky. Stars filled the dark night even with light snow falling softly. I loved it right away. It felt peaceful and far away from everything bad.

Still, it was worth the heat for a little adventure. There was a pull-string directly above me and when I yanked it, a bare bulb lent dirty light to the attic space. There wasn’t much to see anyway. The pitch of the roof left little walkable space. The floor itself was just a few scattered sheets of plywood. It smelled dry and somehow gamey and I wondered if there were squirrels or raccoons finding their way in. There were a couple of old chairs, a dresser with the drawers missing, and a bunch of cardboard boxes splitting at the seams. I squinted at the boxes. Are those comic books? I shuffled over, careful to keep my head low.

CHAPTER HUNDRED-FORTY-SIX *She can't afford to die out here!* They hoisted her roughly, each of them on either side, and they staggered to the stairs where the attic is located. Approaching the attic, The air suddenly turned stuffy and hot and reeks of rotten smell. What the hell stinks in here?! She would have asked and yelled but her mouth has been gagged and sealed. Damn it! She can't survive in here for even thirty minutes straight!

It wasn't a common sight to see a demure young woman and an alien creature that looked like a mix between a monitor lizard, shark and large feline walking through the Ark while the spicy, smoky scent of chilli wafted through the air like a comforting memory. Once in the office, Hunter hopped up onto the couch to warm himself in a small patch of sunlight making it through a window. The tints had been set to a lighter shade allowing more light in but not so much that the summer rays bounced off of the glass surfaces in the room. "Jag?" It swung open with a sigh. The attic room was smaller than I'd imagined, but it was clean. A single bed with a white quilted coverlet was pushed against one wall under a slanted ceiling. A small wooden chair sat in the corner. And there was the window. It was a large, circular window, like a ship's porthole, looking out over the city rooftops. The glass was streaked with the faint traces of rain, but through it, I could see the sprawling expanse of Brooklyn and, in the distance, the glittering jewel box of Manhattan. The room smelled of cedar and clean linen.
