These days, her thoughts always pop up in my mind. I can't even focus much at work as I always find myself thinking about her. I always find myself hoping she hadn't sent that message and Jessica hadn't committed that mistake. What's going on with me? Even at the meeting today, I found myself zoning out during my subordinates’ reports. Worse, I even caught myself wanting to see her—to explain things. It was absurd. I haven't replied to Olivia's text message yet, grappling with what to respond with. Funny how I want to clarify things.

She had talked about it all year as we placed in our applications. I see her from time to time on our video chats and when she comes to visit her mom during holidays. I miss her terribly, more often now than before. Lately, I haven't been myself, man. She is always on my mind. No matter what I do, she is always there....taking over my mind every second. I miss her terribly.

No matter how many times I tried to push it to the back of my mind, it kept coming back, replaying in small fragments that didn’t even make sense on their own but still managed to sit heavy in my chest. The mail. The way Frank had said it so casually, like it wasn’t something that should have shaken me the way it did. Like it was just a fact, something obvious, something I should have already known.

She pats my shoulder and walks away. I sit back in my chair, and nothing but questions flood my mind. There are many things going on right now, but the one constant is my warrior training. I don't have to think or worry when I'm training. I stand up, determined to blank my mind and not focus on the mess my mind seems to be making right now.

My mind was already racing with one thought, over and over: Whoever did this… they’re dead.

It can't be a good thing to always have her on his mind. For her.

It was finally the day for me to make a decision on whether or not I wanted to be with my bosses. I tried finding something to preoccupy myself with but couldn't take my mind off the fact that I needed to choose very soon. The decision weighed heavily on my mind, and no matter how hard I tried to distract myself, my thoughts kept circling back to the same dilemma. My heart pounded in my chest, a constant reminder of the choice I had to make.

“What’s on your mind?” I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to put my feelings into words. “I keep thinking about everything we’ve been through. All the battles, the losses... the darkness. And now, even with the packs coming together, I can’t help but wonder if it’s enough. What if it all falls apart?”
