Forsaking the Shadows

Forsaking the Shadows

I could feel my flesh burning and I winced in pain. “Stop running. You’re only going to suffer more,” he said as he entered the broken door. I ignored what he said and continued climbing up the stairs. It only took me a couple of seconds before I reached the line of tables in the very middle. The entire library was not in total darkness because of the light slipping through the glass windows from the outside. I ran to the east wing and hid behind the tall shelves while catching up my breath. The werewolf’s footsteps echoed in the air.

he said, raising an eyebrow at her as he found her amusing. ——— Somewhere in the dark crowded club,a figure stood in the dark watching Luca as he talked to Alexandra. The man's sharp eyes watched him intently with a dark expression. "I promise to ruin your life and bring you down, Luca" the man muttered under his breath as he continued to watch Luca. "... even if it's the last thing I do" The man raised his glass to his lips and took a long, deliberate sip, a smile making its way up his lips.

WOLVES AMONG SHADOWS

WOLVES AMONG SHADOWS

Fearing the worst, she called a cab and headed directly to the base with Sarah right behind her. Upon getting there she met Ty watching some chaos unfurl a little in front of them. Unlike most werewolf packs in the area that had their hideouts in bars or churches or restaurants, the shadow rock pack had theirs in a sort of neighbourhood. It lent itself well to the family image they depicted all so well. It was right at the edge of town beside a large stream of water.

Alpha King's Unfavored Mate

Alpha King's Unfavored Mate

Chapter 15 The Shadow Within Fiona's POV The darkness was different this time. It wasn’t the cold, empty void that had swallowed Quinton or the eerie blackness of the forest. It was suffocating, pressing in on all sides, squeezing the breath from my lungs and the thoughts from my mind. I was drowning in it, lost in a sea of shadows, with no light, no hope of escape.

Sold Once, Married Twice

Sold Once, Married Twice

“Fine! I need two things, there was a book that belonged to my father that you took when you killed him, I need it back.” My brows came down in a frown, I couldn’t grant her that, she was talking about the book of shadows, it was made out of black magic and contained everything dark and unholy, it was written in hidden Latin so no one could read it, not even me. “How dare you ask for that? You and I both know I can’t give it to you, it wasn’t given to your father, he was supposed to protect it.” “It wasn’t yours to take either!” Her eyes bore into mine with intensity. “I’m sure you already know how powerful that book is but I also know that you’d give it to me, you’d do anything for Ryan, th

THE ARCHIVISTS PAWN: REBIRTH OF THE BURIED QUEEN

THE ARCHIVISTS PAWN: REBIRTH OF THE BURIED QUEEN

He pointed toward the edge of the woods, where the light of the setting sun cast long, distorted shadows. "Mama," Cian said, his voice trembling. "One of the shadows... it's not following the sun." I looked. Near a cluster of pine trees, a shadow was walking toward us. It was the shadow of a man in a crown, my father. But he wasn't alone. Attached to his shadow’s hand was another, smaller shadow. It was a shadow with three arms. The Librarian's failed creation. The shadow of my father didn't speak. It simply pointed toward the "New North" we had just printed. And in its other hand, it held a New Ledger.

Shadows & Whispers

Shadows & Whispers

But the end of what was unclear. I searched the abyss and found nothing. Fear overwhelmed me; images started to appear one by one. Cleo, Prue, work, mum, and the last was Damian. Each disappeared as if they were smoke. Whisps filled the air and dissipated one at a time until there was only one left. The whisp from Damian floated across to me. It morphed into a guiding light as the ticking became faster. Something deep inside felt the pull; I needed to follow it. Step by step, one foot in front of another, I followed his light. It led me to a door in the middle of the abyss. The door stood solid in front of me as the whisp passed through it and disappeared.

Shadows of Betrayal

the Lycan king said. He picked up his laptop and went out. Soon, I heard the sound of his car engine driving away. I heaved out a heavy sigh and closed my eyes tightly to feel in my surroundings. Thanks to the moon goddess who gave me a second chance to live. I walked out of the spiritual room and opened a dark brown door. It looked dark inside, so I moved to turn on the switch. I was really astonished because of how beautiful the room looked. There were lots of books of different genres.

SHADOWS OF THE COVENANT

SHADOWS OF THE COVENANT

After forty years of the alternative, the simplicity of it had a weight. The eastern territories had been reading the proceedings documentation for two weeks. They had the shape of the history by now — the alliance, the ambush, forty years of a people surviving in hiding while the kingdom that had destroyed them called itself civilised. The Vampire King walking openly through their markets was not the threat the old stories had prepared them for. It was a man carrying the accumulated weight of everything his people had survived, choosing to be visible about both the survival and the weight. Because visibility was the only real answer to thirty years of the other side's lies.

Shadows of the Lost

Shadows of the Lost

“I see, you still had an obsidian shadow.” Sure enough, Kleint did have an obsidian-black shadow. It was covering his body, flexing in his outline. The way it stretched was just beyond normal, considering that it even covered up his neck, forming a specialized polo coat with buttons in the middle, and a cape so extreme that it had spikes in it. “You’re being humble, Luis. We all know that all legends possess such a shadow.” Coughing a little, Marjorie—with the help of Granny—tried to sit, exhaling rather heavily. “W-What’s the thing—what’s the thing about these shadows—obsidian whatnot?”

Probably the most challenging story I have written. With about 5 drafts and two years of crafting, it’s my longest work. It’s thrilling. I revisit it sometimes and, he, even I get overwhelmed and awed. I mean, it feels like I’m not the one who wrote it.

I love the world building of this novel! Even when you’re only in chapter one you can already see how the author meticulously planned the settings of the story. It’s descriptive so even if the world is new and unfamiliar the readers could still easily imagine what it’s like.
