My breath caught. Pushing the door open, I stepped into the hidden library. The scent hit me first, old parchment, candle wax, and a whisper of something… ancient. My eyes widened. Rows upon rows of books, scrolls, and manuscripts filled the room from floor to ceiling, the shelves carved with intricate runes that glowed faintly in the moonlight streaming through the high windows.
