Stuck between the Royal Wolves
I squawked, brushing my cold fingers over the green cotton gown that I had changed into.
“Sure thing Anne of Green Gables,” Mary snickered and I flushed again, watching her bend over the open window and turn her face this way and that.
I could glimpse what she must have been seeing from my seat on the bed, the way the shingle roof of the opposite castle wing rose over the foyer in between and the line of guards on the battlement at the walls, milling about the cannons and laughing loudly.
Did she want me to dress as she did? I shook my head, not believing I could pull off the slutty schoolgirl look before she turned to me suddenly, her small oval face pinched
