Somewhere in the distance, Christopher’s voice could be heard yelling something about his punch stains on the linen tablecloth, which felt like the least important thing happening in the entire yard. And she needed to get to Damian. Damian didn’t seem to notice or care about any of it. He followed Marcus down when his knees buckled, hauling him back up by the collar just to keep hitting him again. “Damian!” Asteria called, pushing through the persistent crowd. “Damian, stop!” He didn’t stop. He had already held it half way up when he entirely changed his mind and let it drop to the floor instead. Damian left her shaking and sobbing. Linny would have preferred to be beaten to death than to hand over the name of the man she had been with.

Damian’s head snapped to the side, but he didn't fall. Instead, a dark, guttural laugh ripped from his chest, and he spat a drop of blood onto the pristine carpet.

He lunged towards Caleb, his fists raised, and swung with all his might. Caleb managed to sidestep Damian's attack, narrowly avoiding a blow to his face. He stepped back, his eyes filled with a mix of fear, anger, and confusion. "Damian, calm down," he pleaded, his voice trembling. "Ava needs time. We both do." But Damian was beyond reason, blinded by jealousy and hurt. He lunged at Caleb once again, this time connecting with a punch that sent him sprawling to the ground. The Queen turned to the King, her mouth opening to argue, but his raised hand silenced her. A completely stunned silence falling over everyone present as Damian rose back to his feet, still clutching his cheek. meeting Elisa's gaze and darkening expression, he instantly tried to laugh it off as a joke. “I’m okay,” Damian said quickly. “It’s fine, really—”
