“Keep us hidden from any guards!” “Yeah, yeah.” Opening the door, we made our way to the cold air. Snow had started falling. “Best part is I am going to be delivering you to Astra on a silver platter before the stupid eclipse! I will get rewarded!” Cynthia sang in a whisper. “With what? A potion to make you pretty to look at?” I laughed. Cynthia tried to punch me, but her fist barely made contact with my cheek. “Fuck you!” “Oh, ouch!” I faked as I rubbed my cheek.

Adelie quickly recognized that voice to be Cynthia's, so she raised her gaze and found her best friend glaring hard at her with disgust written on her face. "So this is why you've warned me several times to stay away from your brother? You were having affairs with him and were jealous of us dating? You are so despicable," Cynthia cursed at her, but she only lowered her gaze and stared down at her feet, ashamed of even moving from the place. Someone suddenly grabbed her hand, and she raised her gaze to see Asher. "Let go of me," She whispered, trying to yank his hand off, but his grip on her was firm.

Xanthus had always thought they were the best partner for each other, but he lost the courage to love again with Jared's appearance this time. Seeing Cynthia crying her heart out, Xanthus could only ask, "What's your plan? Do you want to go back?" Cynthia shook her head. She didn't know what to do either. After all, those who had died were her family. Even if they had done things that broke her heart, she still couldn't turn a blind eye. Cynthia passed out after crying for a few hours. Xanthus managed to wake her up with first aid but still sent her to the hospital, still worried. He even checked her heart rate and made sure she was okay before sitting down in the ward for a while.

She pats my head like I am a cat instead of fist-bumping me before saying, "Lunch-time is almost over. I'll see you later." I head to the printing room to take a few photocopies before officially wrapping up my work for the day. Asher is going to get a taste of his own medicine today. He thinks he can get away with this no-reaction nonsense but I am going to make sure I drive him completely nuts. Despite whatever Xena thinks, those fanfictions are the real deal. While I am too caught up in my own thoughts I notice Caleb standing near the printer. He notices me and smiles instantly.

The name on the screen made my heart stop. Axel. I answered. Asher didn’t even flinch. “Yeah?” His voice was low and thick. There was a pause on the line. Then Axel’s voice was serious. “We found out what happened to her. All of it.” My spine stiffened. Asher’s eyes flicked to me. I stared at him, suddenly cold again. He didn’t speak. Just ended the call, slowly. I swallowed hard. My voice cracked when I asked “What did he mean?”

But until then I have revenge cooking up in my head. “Jayson Woods and Miss. Water doesn't know what you release!” Enjoy hurting me and making me feel this way broken. So, enjoy it! Carl taunted, a malevolent grin etched upon his face. "Hey! That's my story!" Ashley retorted, her eyes welling with tears, her hand instinctively freeing itself from Xander's grasp. However, Xander urged restraint, his words carrying a note of pointlessness. She turned to him, her eyes filled with tears, and reluctantly reclaimed his hand. Carl appeared before Ashley, casually wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "Let's go home and celebrate, my princess. You naughty mafia slut," he sneered, toying with her hair. Although Ashley burned with a desire to kick him in the nut, she found herself powerless against his grip.

With each word, Hael’s deep voice grew harder, more determined. “What is it you want to know?” I sounded breathy, too much for my liking but it hid the fear that hit me in sharp pangs. Alpha Xavier Ashford frightened me, more than I’d ever admit. Hael prowled closer, each movement smooth and calculated. My chest brushed his abdomen as he stared down at me, his eyes flickering between rage and possessiveness. The two blistering emotions met somewhere in the middle, creating something new and dangerous, something addicting.

Austin smirked, looking at her in a challenging manner. “I’m out of here. I’m sorry, Ash. We can catch up later.” She had an apologetic look and came over to give me a hug. I was too tired to put up a fight with her. I hugged her back and she said her goodbyes to Jake and Dan while giving Austin a death glare. I saw her leaving through the door while Austin looked like he was about to punch someone. How did a perfect evening turn into a mess? I rested my head on my hands, letting out a breath. “I’m gonna head out too. Take care, Ash.” Austin stood up and kissed my forehead. I smiled at him as he said his goodbyes, leaving in a rush.

Dust and small debris rained down from the ceiling, and the floor beneath us trembled. "They're coming," Lena said, already gathering the most important texts and shoving them into her pack. "We need to move." I remained frozen before the mural, my mind racing. If these texts contained information about the Phoenix Essence, about me, they might hold the key to removing the cuff. To regain my power. To remember everything. Including what had happened between Dain and me. What had turned him from ally to enemy? And maybe, just maybe, they held information about my connection to Hail across lifetimes.
