A big smile splits her beautiful face open and she runs to me, taking both my hands in her. “Alpha Spirit,” she says and does that greeting thing where she brings my hand to her forehead. “You made it.” Alpha spirit? I don’t want to be anyone’s Alpha. “Yes,” I say somewhat weakly. “Come join us. Bathe in the Moon’s glory.” The other spirits gather around me. Most of them are female, but I notice a few men scattered amongst the women. None of them seem to be aroused or fazed by their own, or anyone else’s, nudity.

They aren’t close.” “Yes, they are,” I reply warily. “The dark spirits. They’re angry, hungry and they’re going to attack any minute if we don’t leave this place.”

'You promised not to make judgements, and you’re doing it again,' criticises Alma. I sigh, 'I’m just trying to understand him.' 'Then ask him!' She yells in exasperation, 'Atlas is right, you humans make things far too complicated.' 'Who’s Atlas?' 'Alpha Alden’s wolf,' she says, wagging her tail. 'You’ve been talking to his wolf?' I ask in shock. 'I do have a life you know,' she huffs. Okay, I’m going to choose not to unpack the fact my wolf spirit is having a social life from the confines of my head, that might just give me a headache. Thankfully the doorbell rings.

That’s legacy. That’s inheritance.”

I sighed and told them what the spirit told me. “But why only to Lady Seraphina? The spirit could have just meet Sir Zale, and since he is a water element user, the heir to say the least, why not him?” Asked Notus while looking confused. I sighed and just crouched to be at his eye level. “If the spirit were to summon Zale, then it will just end there. Remember when I said that the vengeance spirit was a fire? I could tell that I had been lying next to Atlas, but I had moved back a bit at some point, most likely in response to his anger. He looked to be spaced out and mind-linking with someone, and what they were telling him was causing his aura to increase at a rapid rate. Just as I felt myself about to falter, Tala gave me the strength to resist the instinct to submit. The need was purely mental, not physical, as I hadn’t physically needed to submit to anyone’s aura since I was 16, not even to a wolf as powerful as Atlas.
