I groaned in pain, as something hit my temple when I leaned against the pillar decorated with a wired fence of black roses swirling around its neck. "Fuck.." I mumbled angrily, upon finding a black bat with its wing spread out hanging from the pillar. I stretched out my hands to pick on its wing to check whether it was a live bird or a dummy of it. To my shock, it was neither alive nor a dummy. But a stuffed bird. "Hey," I said, "where are you?" As soon as the call connected I asked him. A bustling noise sounded in his background suggesting that he was stuck in traffic. "I'm on the way, sweetie." His voice came filtering through the noise of bashing horns.

Jack continued, his concentration still focussed on the map, oblivious to the ruckus the others were causing. “But we cannot alert the target in an attempt to synchronize our attack.” Matthew nodded, his expression turning serious. In the battlefield or in instances where the area of interest was spread out, there were many waves to send signals and synchronise their attacks, however, in this instance, this wasn’t the case. With his head tilted all the way back, Tony gulped the last of his coffee and made an audible 'pop' after he swallowed. It was funny how he felt the need to add sound effects to everyday motions and activities. Dillon called them 'dad noises', and tormented him on the basis that he was the elder. Apparently, the elder position had its own downsides. If Tony wanted to grunt and sigh loudly when he stood up and sat down, why couldn't he? The answer was, he could and he would add a 'vroom!' to any random car that passed them, and he would and could add a 'ping!' to the stoplight when it changed colours. The cicadas sing to the full moon as I stir, unable to completely fall asleep. I’d forgotten how beautifully annoying these things were. Even with jet lag falling asleep is difficult. Creeeeak. "Confirmed," Cale said. "Auditory marker established." They reached the street. The noise hit Cale like a physical wave. Sirens. Cars. People talking. A jackhammer in the distance. He flinched, his hand tightening on Elion’s shoulder. "Too much?" Elion asked. "High volume," Cale said. "Processing." He closed his eyes for a second. He isolated the sounds. Car engine: Combustion. Irregular firing on cylinder four.

a piping voice warns. The rasping noise stops. After a few seconds, there are the dull thuds of heavy boots echoing on bare wooden boards and the bang of a door somewhere far off in the building. "I think it's alright now." And the noise resumes, a thin quiet fretting sound heard only by those gathered closely around. With the grate and scrape of grit and cement, a bar slides out of its socket. The voice murmurs through the glass. I've got one out. It'll be faster now. I can pick at the cement for the others. A ripple of excitement runs through the group.

Unfortunately, my fit bumps into one of the over-stuffed bags and it makes some noise. “What is that?” I hear the man talking to himself as he comes closer to the dumpster.
