Bella’s POV With teary eyes, I clenched my fist and bowed my head in shame. A few days ago everything was fine. Just yesterday, Alpha Draco and I still made love and today Max showed up, his fiance also arrived, and–right now, I feel so weak and tired. Sarah right here doesn’t look like someone who’s here to joke. She sees me as her rival and well I see her as trouble too. If only Alpha Draco could just take a look at me, for just a few seconds, maybe–just maybe he would recognize me as his mate.

But I wasn't sure I even believed myself. Across the ballroom, Bella excused herself from the merchants and walked onto the terrace overlooking the moonlit gardens. She looked tired. Connor noticed immediately, following her out a few moments later. He didn't stand close enough to invade her space, just close enough to make sure she wasn't alone. I watched him stop beside her. Neither spoke at first; they simply stood together beneath the moonlight, comfortable in the silence. Something inside me twisted. It wasn't anger, and it wasn't rage. It was pure possessiveness. Alexander chuckled and pulled her in a hug. "Was it too much?" He placed her head on his chest and caressed it. Bella sniffed and closed her eyes. "Yes" "Sorry" He kissed her forehead. "I hate you."
