I tried to search my memory who he is, but everything felt foggy and distant, like trying to look through a thick glass wall.
“I’m her ex-husband,” he added quietly.
I stared at him, confusion turning into something else, something heavier.
“I just wanted to say… I’m sorry,” he continued, his voice trembling slightly. “For everything I did back then. For hurting you. For hurting both of you.”
A strange pressure started building inside my head.
Hurting you. The words echoed.
“I was young and stupid, and I did things I can never take back. I know I scared you. I know I hurt you physically and I have regretted it every single day since.”
