Water dripping from the ceiling at the far corner had liquified some of them, creating odorous, slimy pools across the floor, underneath her shoes. Like a rabbit caught in a snare, she spun around to flee too late as he was coming back down the stone stairs—right out of the dungeon—with slow, dreadful steps.
