The light was blinding, a flash-bang of industrial scale. The "Sonic Screen" shifted frequency, moving from a roar to a high-pitched, crystalline shriek.
The mercenaries went down. It wasn't the heat that got them; it was the sensory overload. Their HUDs, designed to filter out muzzle flashes and small-scale noise, were overwhelmed by the foundry’s raw power. They were clutching their helmets, their weapons clattering to the floor.
