Conrad spat out. “I don’t fucking care, lower your gun or I’ll fucking shoot you!” Conrad lowered his gun, and looked at his four sons. “If my blood did not flow through your veins, I’d have you killed for your insolence. You fucking put a gun to my head! I know Gage stands with Dominic, he always has. What about you two? Are you with Dominic or are you with me?” Faro clenched his jaw, and looked at Conrad. “I stand with my brother.”

“That’s not reassuring.” Blake ignores him. His eyes never leave mine. “James didn’t just mark you,” he says. “He triggered something.” Cold dread settles in my stomach. “Triggered what?” I ask. The fire in my veins surges, answering before he does. It coils tighter, stretching, unfolding, like something long asleep is finally waking. Blake smiles. “The bloodline,” he says. “The one everyone thought was a myth.” Ethan stiffens. “No.” “Yes.” Blake’s voice is reverent now. “The Goddess-bound line. The kind that doesn’t manifest unless pushed to the edge of death.”

His gaze is locked on her. “Go on,” he says. Emory draws in a breath. “There are six bloodlines. Three wolf. Three hunter. Each one connected to the survival — or destruction — of our world. You, Lucian. Malakar. And me — we’re the wolf bloodlines.” I feel Malakar stiffen beside me. I glance over at him, but his face remains calm. Controlled. “And the hunters?” Velara asks, voice sharp.

"Bloodlines vary in nature and attribute. Most bloodlines differ from each other. However, children from the same family tend to develop the same abilities due to this very same bloodline. The thing about bloodlines is that when they develop in a family, that family will continue to possess the abilities pertaining to that bloodline even after countless millennia. Unfortunately, the amount of abilities or the power of the abilities that a descendent of a family bloodline can inherit will depend on the density of his or her bloodline. This is the normal bloodline awakening that I'm sure you are all aware of. The uncommon bloodline awakening is the fusion of two bloodlines- the new awakening.

His smile just made everyone smile. “Guess what I found out from Cade?” He rubbed his hands together. “Not something bad I hope.” I squished my brows together. “Was it about my mom?” His smile dimmed just a little. “No, but I did learn some interesting things about hunters. More specifically, the fact that there were only three bloodlines.” My eyes widened in surprise. “Three? That’s not a very large number.” I started to feel some hope rise in my chest. “Yeah, three packs carry the bloodline, they were the Midnight Pack, the Trinity Pack, and the Daemon Pack.”
