Pearl yells at the closed door and Gwen giggles. Slowly the other women file in. I load up a bowl of potato soup that Julie brought. She even fried up some bacon to sprinkle on top and I think I've died and gone to Heaven. I stopped to look down at my nails, my eyes instantly drawn to the one different nail on my left ring finger. "Oh yeah?" Ella said. "Maybe we should create a little book club of our own, have discussions about our lunch gatherings rather than just sharing glances at each other." She suggested. "Well... While the young wives might like the idea, I'm not so sure about the old wives," Cilvia commented. "Is this your way of saying you don't want to do book clubs?" Ella asked, and Cilvia just shrugged her shoulders. "We can go get our nails done. I'm sure all the women would like that," Cilvia suggested.

“And what do you mean my gimmicks?” Micheal winces. “Sorry, bad choice of words. I mean, maybe you can think of something that will be able to bring more money. Something you do every week, like a book club? Or knitting club? Arts and crafts? Or something else book-related, perhaps.” I can see where he’s going with this, but I’m already shaking my head before he’s finished. “I actually did a knitting club and a craft evening a few years ago, but the numbers were quite low. Rayland read the menu and listed, “Dark chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, Oreo flavoured, uhm… fiesta fruit and chocolate mint.”
