Break the Bond, Burn the Bridge

Break the Bond, Burn the Bridge

Tears blurred the page, dripping onto the words as I wrote. The pain chewed through me, slow and merciless. I thought back to my last life. After I begged Jack to get tested, he packed up and walked out. Said he couldn't live with someone "so cruel." Then he vanished. No calls. No link. Nothing. I searched everywhere—Silvermoon Guard base, every place he might hide. But I never saw him again. The link stayed dead. There was no way to persuade him to go to the hospital for a check-up.

Stepdaughter by Day, Wife by Night

Stepdaughter by Day, Wife by Night

“I had three children looking at me. Waiting for me to be strong.” He set his cup down on the table carefully. “I know I hurt you.” I turned back to face him. “Do you?” I asked. He swallowed. “Yes.” I walked closer again, stopping just a few steps away from him. “My heart was broken,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “Not cracked. Not slightly damaged. Broken.” His jaw tightened. “Can you tell me something?” I continued. He nodded slowly. “If a glass breaks… if it shatters into pieces… can you put it back together and make it look the same again?”

Welcome to Aetherborn: Crushes, Curses & Creatures

Welcome to Aetherborn: Crushes, Curses & Creatures

Energy cracked through the air like lightning, tossing her bedsheets and shattering her glass of water on the table. Everything started falling apart. The walls trembled first, hairline cracks snaking across the marble like veins of light. The curtains tore free from their rods as a fierce wind howled through the room, though no windows were open. Books, pillows, and shards of glass spiraled upward, caught in the violent current that built around her.

The Last Moonbane

The Last Moonbane

“The question is why. And who’s doing it.” I couldn’t answer. My eyes were fixed on a single line we had copied down before the page disintegrated in our hands. “…when the stone shattered, so too did the chains. But not all chains break clean…” The words trembled on the parchment. Chains. Broken, but not gone. We left the library before dusk, our arms laden with what scraps we dared carry. The silence of the place clung to me like cobwebs as we stepped back into the sunlight.

LOVE ME OR HATE ME

LOVE ME OR HATE ME

Asking with her warmest voice if everything was alright with Daniel. I thought about the ring on my finger. About October and Tuscany and a hillside and the life that had been sitting in front of me for months bright and real and completely mine. And I felt something crack. Not loudly. That was the thing about the most significant breakings. They did not announce themselves. They just gave way. Quietly. The way ice gave way under weight it was never meant to hold. Something between us that had existed my entire life. Cracking down the center.

Touch me tender, Break me wild: A Steamy Compilation

"Can I help you with something?" "Yes, please, my watering can just broke or cracked , I don't know but it's kind of leaking from beneath so I came over to ask if you have one and if I could uhmm borrow it? " "Yes, yes. I do. Please come in. " I entered his house and I gasped inwardly at how messed up this place looked. All crammed with books and empty pizza boxes. I guess the woman of the house hasn't found time to clean things up.

Payment To the Alpha

Why was she hung up on this? ”Hey, Lydia,” I nudged her shoulder which seemed to get her out of whatever trans she was in. ”Yeah?” ”Flip the page,” I said and gestured to the book. Lydia cleared her throat and flipped the page. The words were faded to such an extent that it was nearly impossible to read them. There was that branch again only this time it was broken in the middle with thorns sticking out on each side. They were a faded red which seemed to symbolize blood.

The pocket

The pocket

The silence was punctuated only by our quiet murmurs, our shared yearning for a past we never knew, a future we desperately wished for. Later, amidst the twisted metal and rubble, James stumbled upon a tattered book, its cover mostly torn away, revealing only a few words—'The Chronicles of Atheria'. The title alone conjured images of a world far removed from our own, a place of magic and wonder, of brave knights and epic quests. The pages, brittle with age and decay, contained fragmented stories, glimpses of a civilization that had flourished before the catastrophe. It spoke of vibrant cities, of advanced technology, and of a society that lived in harmony with its environment.
