Who knows what kinds of diseases could be passed around? I'm rooted to my spot, trying to calm the growing storm and turmoil threatening to consume me, while my sister lazily pulls on a robe. I held the edges of the bed tight for support, trying to control the trembling in my fingers and my legs. The pain in my chest worsened, my breath came short and uneven and I had trouble breathing. And then, suddenly, the burning started to come in waves, shooting through my chest in different directions. I clutched my chest harder and the pain in my hand increased exponentially. But it was not enough. The wave of pain kept coming relentlessly, and I couldn’t get any air. I squeezed my eyes shut hoping the waves would pass faster. I knew it was futile though. It never did.

My chest thumps so hard, as if trying to claw right out of my chest. Fire engulfs my whole being suddenly, pulling me under. I don’t attempt to fight it, my rage edging it on. It is hard to breathe, but I find out that I am fine without it. I curl my hands into fists. I can feel my nails digging into my palm. Last I checked, they were not that long for something like that to happen. My chest rises and falls. Heat floods my bones. My back curves. “Isn’t that your little girlfriend over there?” I hear Sabina giggle from across the road.

Pulling my hand back, I closed my eyes to resume my meditation. Although, when I tried to return, I felt as if something was wrong. I felt this growing pain in my chest that only became worse by the second. I could feel my breathing become labored and my heart rate become erratic. “What is going on?” I gasped. Opening my eyes, I leaned forward, while pressing my hands to my chest. I felt Archer’s hand on my back, and it sounded as if he were yelling for Jarod. My head was pounding, and my ears were ringing.

And then I saw bite marks around my nipples. A rush of heat climbed up my throat. I could only bite my lower lip as I swallowed hard, feeling once again that strange, burning sensation rising to my face, so warm it was as the steam of smoke was escaping from my cheeks. My hand flew to my chest on instinct, pressing over the rapid, restless thudding of my heart. With trembling fingers, I slipped into my bathrobe, pulling the fabric tightly around me. I left the bathhouse in a hurry as I made my way back to the tower.

Like someone had pressed something hot against my ribs from the inside. I sat up and rubbed my chest, trying to make it stop. Probably just stress, right? My body finally catching up with all the insane shit from the past few days. But it kept getting worse. The burning spread out until my whole chest felt tight and wrong. My breathing went shallow without me trying to do it. Each breath didn't quite fill my lungs right. Okay, what the hell was this? Heart attack? At eighteen? That made zero sense. Maybe a panic attack. I'd had those before with my dad. But they usually came with my brain going crazy and being scared of everything, and right now I was just confused and uncomfortable.

Its ticking reminds me of the ticking of a time bomb, and somewhere it is not far from the truth. Time. Is. Ticking. With each moment passing, I feel my chest constricting. All these feelings were too familiar, the vice-like grip clutching my chest, making each intake of breath difficult than the previous one. My vision turned blurry when a pair of arms encased me, as the first set of sobs tears from my throat. "Just take a deep breath." I feel Max pressing a kiss on my forehead as he tightly holds me, and I realize I have started hyperventilating.

My chest becomes heavy, and my world becomes dark all over again. I wake to feel as if I can’t breathe. I try to get up, but something is holding me down. I tap Bryce on the shoulder. “Bryce, I need you to get up,” I tell him, but he doesn’t move. I feel like I’m about to pass out. I tap Bryce on the shoulder again and repeat my words. Bryce finally moves, and I fly into the sitting position while holding my chest, fighting for air. “What’s the matter?”

“Yeah, yeah I am fine. Just…thinking, that’s all.” “Why do you keep rubbing at your chest? Did you get hurt out there too?” His question had everyone in the room turning towards me. I didn’t even notice until he pointed it out, that I had been rubbing at my chest. “Nah man. I am good. Just feeling a little tight, I guess.” I respond. I don’t really know how to explain this sensation that I have been feeling for the last hour or so, it’s like a line is being pulled tight in my heart. I reach up and rub again, right as the Doc walks in.
