I knew I should close the book, walk away and forget what I had read.
But I continued on, greedily devouring the forbidden text, drawn deeper into its web of secrets and deception.
I looked again at the librarian, her eyes still watching, waiting to see if I would reveal what I now knew. I closed the book slowly and quietly rose in my seat.
Some doors, once opened, can never be closed again.
Some secrets are not meant to be disturbed, long buried for good reason.
But my curiosity had gotten the better of me, lured by the promise of hidden mysteries and lost knowledge.
