Cassie POV I sat in my father’s office, paging through one of the books which sat on the bookshelf behind his desk. It had been one of my favourites as a child - of a princess whose prince searches the world for her, sweeping her up in a fairytale romance which reality just can’t compare to.

To get things off their chest and fix things before they got too sour. The second River turns the key in the door, it flies open revealing Cassie Malacca, a stunning Samoan with long, wavy black hair. “River, hi.” She greets with a lack of enthusiasm, but even with that expression she has an enviable beauty. River forces a smile, but Cassie doesn’t return it. “Why are you here?” He questions, standing on his toes to look inside the apartment. Instead of answering, she peers at him as if intimidated by his very existence.

She loved reading romance stories and everything that has to do with fairytales. I gave them a look, that showed how unrealistic I thought that is. Even though a small part of me would like that to be true. “Excuse me,” said a small voice. We all turned our heads to the door. At the doorway stood Cassie. Her cheeks blushing and her expression shy. The first thought that hit my mind was, “how much did she hear?”

“What do you want?” My voice was low, but sharp so she'd know I wasn't in for any joking around. We hadn't talked since the scene at Imogen's school, and I'd have loved it if we kept it that way. But here she was, standing outside my company. Cassie's shoulders lifted to a shrug, and she strode over, each step slow and calculated. She had on black palazzo pants with a dark pink sleeveless crop top, so I got to see the little bump on her stomach.

I force words onto the screen, build an outline, create structure where there is none. This is what I know how to do. This is who I am. Cassie Monroe. Future doctor. Medical student. Survivor. Not some girl who falls apart because a boy broke her heart. The apartment door opens. Maya's voice calls out. “Cassie? I got your favourite food!” I save my document and close my laptop, taking a breath and putting on the mask. “Coming!” When I step out of the room, Maya's setting containers on the kitchen counter. She looks at me carefully as if she's assessing my face.

Thank God for saved passwords. It was educational. And a little depressing. Cassie really was a piece of work; nasty, spiteful, sharp-tongued. Popular in the shallow way mean girls always are. Followed and liked on social media, but with no real warmth anywhere. If she had true friends, I couldn’t find them. Her parents had died when she was nineteen, leaving her rich and alone. I wondered if that had hollowed her out. If that was when the walls went up. Why she didn’t let people in.

They didn't go shopping for a swimsuit, but they did go back to Cassie's apartment and grabbed her books, clothes, and swimsuits, yep she snatched her one piece and a pair of sexy bikinis for daytime wear, perfect for study break she thought earlier. Cassidy grinned at Rowan and typed her assignment faster, she was almost done, just a couple of summaries left then she could take a break before continuing to another subject. She didn't think she'd complete the work this fast, yet she amazes herself when she did. This was the first time Cassidy had been pumped in doing her work, and somehow when she squinted and worked her brain harder she made it, she understood and easily finishes her work b

At least this was what in her thoughts that was going for a long time now as time passes by. Tears formed at the women eyes as her introduction line up and on beside her when a pop up and big characters appeared. When her introduction was invisible next to her, a pool of water appeared at the Sotiras and Heroes feet while Cassie kept crying but still stubbornly look at Kate, wanting to get an answer for her question that desperately needed a response immediately to calm her agitated heart right now. “They are literally falling into our hands…wait! That means John Myles is headed our way too!” “I know!” I say, already preplanning in my head. “We are going to find a way to get him to stop his car. I want to deal with him before the boys get the option.” She quickly glances over at me sliding my hand into my purse. “What are your plans, Cassie?” “I have a gun,” I say with a wide smile. She quickly takes her foot off the gas, her eyes turning to me as they widen. “You are not about to shoot him! Let Devin do any of that stuff, he’s the billionaire. He has a better chance of getting away with it.”

I heard Cassie clapping and laughing at the same time, she looks like a maniac. “Enough of the talks and pity tears, I’m starting to get bored,” she said. “Shut up,” Cathy spat at her. Cassie gave her a scowl before continuing her speech. “Anyway to make this more interesting you should meet a few people, I hope you’re excited to meet them because they are,” she laughed hysterically. What is she talking about again, who else is involved in all this.
