I rush into the arena, and the sight in front of me makes me pause. In the middle of the pit is a massive three-tailed fox, its white fur gleaming under the dim lights. The crowd is on their feet, screaming and roaring with bloodlust. The fox is surrounded by five wolves and a panther, each one circling, waiting for an opening. But it’s not just any fox. “Shit,” I mutter, my heart racing. It’s Legion.

my father remarked. He tilted my chin up to look at him. "You are Dante Russo, my first son, heir to this family. You do not lay low and allow anything to trample on you. Understood?" he asked. "Yes father" I replied. "Now put that darned animal down" he ordered. He picked up his gun and before I could realize what he wanted to do. He shot the cat. I screamed, louder than I had ever screamed in my life. My cat, Snow was dead. I was shivering in fear. He pulled me closer and forced my face up.

It stings but no one will see that pain. He thinks I'm shocked and not paying attention and before he can lunge again, I shift. And it startles him. Athena's size and dominance is nothing to joke about. She's a dark matte grey wolf, with a black patch over her eye with bright white paws. Her grey blue eyes shining from her face, purple swirls dancing in her eyes. Her snout has a black crescent moon that goes from one side to the other. She's magnificent and I'm extremely proud of her.

The Lycan. He was massive, standing nearly seven feet tall in his human form. He wore a heavy coat made of wolf pelts—a trophy from Alphas he had killed. His face was a ruin of scars, one eye milky white, the other a burning, unnatural yellow. He was an Ancient, a creature from a bloodline that predated the Council’s laws. He didn't just shift into a wolf; he shifted into a war machine. "Ethan Carter," Volkov’s voice rumbled, sounding like rocks grinding in a crusher. He stopped ten feet away. "The last time we met, you put a silver spike through my chest."

He didn’t grow as big, neither did he possess the noble aura of the White Fox lady, but he was no weakling. Although he wasn’t bigger than the White Fox, the Slender Cat was still a huge opponent. He towered over 50 meters. He was a large panther with black and red fur. His claws were dangerously sharp and his tail was as thin as the sword he was using before, although he had grown to such a size. It looked durable, and Mane was certain that it wasn’t a mere decorative tail like the White Fox’s. Just like the White Fox, he also had a crown on his head. But unlike the White Fox his crown gave him an air of savagery, not nobility. And Mane felt threatened by those deep red eyes.

I asked my friend, since Kitty was clearly in no hurry to go anywhere. I was glad that the gunsmith managed to let go of the past and, apparently, found her future in Alena. They looked very organically together, a fragile smiling dryad and a sort of "Lara Croft", with rather sharp features. Yes perishing, truth apparently said, that opposites attract. I take pleasure when his expression turns to astonishment as I speak to him in my half-shifted state. “I can take the form of any cat, and change the color of my fur,” I speak while letting my fur shimmer from deep red to a light yellow with painted black spots.

As I hop off my bed and done preparing, it's time for a conscientious masking for socializing with humans because creatures like me was in a very great danger in their hands. I'm an anthromorph, an animal in a human body geometry. I can transmute into human and into my animal trait alternatively but having ears, tail, sharp fangs and the eyes of a wolf in a human form was my true identity. I was one of the rarest Anthromorph Traits that ever exist. I'm a wolf anthromorph with hermaphroditism which made me a uniqie man-wolf anthromorph. Because of my hermaphroditism, I have heats and I am able to conceive an offspring and that was the reason I'm being extra careful outside my home.

My breath came fast and shallow, lips now dry. In the corner, next to a fallen bookcase, stood…an enormous male cat with shiny black fur. Emerald-gold eyes peered into my soul as he lifted his head to hiss at me. I blinked a few times. Yep, I've lost it. Because what I was looking at was a panther, and we didn't have panthers in Colorado. Unless I missed something, okay, remain calm. Remember your farm training. Who the hell was I kidding? This was a wild animal, for Christ's Sake.

It appeared to be a fur. Cassandra pulled it out of the box to get a better view of it. “My goodness. It’s gorgeous.” Their father rounded the sofa. “It’s a Montana Lynx. The trim is white fox.” “Oh, it’s beautiful,” she said as she stood. The box fell off her lap and into the floor. She put it on. “It fits perfectly.” “I take it from the sparkle in your brown eyes that I am forgiven,” his father said. Cassandra beamed. She walked over to him and kissed his cheek. “You’re forgiven, but you should still go to confession.”
