“It’s no wonder you and Akyran have taken so long to get to it. You’d want to be really sure before you committed.”
I spotted a crying child. “Excuse me,” I said to the mother and used a rag from my kit to wipe the child’s tears. “Thank you.”
“Stealing children’s tears, now,” Daerton was impressed. “That’s a pretty potent component.”
“There’s nothing impressive about children’s tears,” I told him, distracted from the conversation enough to be amused. “It’s getting them without the snot mingled in that puts most mages off their collection.”
“Still, not something I would want to handle. Too volatile. How do you know if the child was angry, sad, injured, or just pretending?”
