I bristled, heat flooding my cheeks. “Jealous much?” I snapped back, but she was already gone, sliding through the crowd like smoke. I clenched Lucian’s arm harder.
Then he stepped forward, and the hall stilled. Lucian’s voice cut through the hum like steel. “Hunters,” he declared, “tonight, we prepare for victory. The wolves believe themselves strong. They believe their magic will shield them. They are wrong.”
