Haunted Beasts

Haunted Beasts

My heart is furiously beating as I type the word nonhuman. Many articles pop up so I just click on the first one. There are so many definitions. Sirens, witches, vampires , demons and yes, Angels are there too. Apparently the term is used to describe people who are not exactly humans, people with unusual gifts or powers. The following article says nonhumans are just a myth and that no such thing exists. One says they were real during the eighteenth century but we're destroyed and are now extinct. I keep on reading and even click on the images. The images are a bit scary and definitely not human. The thought that I could be one of those things is more than scary.

Though he could not imagine what it could be. In Russia, his parents and grandparents believed in what was called the Unclean Force. Нечистая сила was both the devil and all demons and potentially harmful in Russia. Although the beings of this unclean force resided primarily in the spirit realm — тот свет, they were able to manifest themselves in this world in many forms. The most well known among the unclean force were sorcerers, witches, the undead, and the "unclean dead", including suicides, those who died of drunkenness, victims of accidents and violent deaths, unbaptized infants, and vampires. Likewise, strangers and people of other religions were viewed as possessing the unclean force.

Yet, it was the worst cake Zen had ever created in history. Of course, the dungeon creator thought to include Lores in this dungeon. Zen was almost certain there was a hidden side quest somewhere. However, he did not have the luxury of time to explore them when he was getting carried to the vanguard members. “According to Greek mythology, when Medusa was slain, she birthed two children that belonged to Poseidon. The flying hogs we saw earlier were Chrysaor’s descendants. However, the boss is the actual twin brother of the flying hog. You wouldn’t guess they were twins if not for their wings,” Damian smirked. “After all, who would associate the beautiful Pegasus with the boorish Chrysaor?”

Then there were the two goblins and a bodach, sitting at the table nearby. A bodach is a nasty male fairy whose pastimes include stealing human children. This particular one was old-man-thin with sagging, jaundiced skin and bulging, cloudy, blue eyes. Eyes which he set on us with shocked glee. Conri started to growl and stepped forward while Tiernan pulled his sword, but I went between them, held up a hand, and blew harshly across my fingertips.

Being sold To The Highest Bidder

Being sold To The Highest Bidder

Hidden beneath the sands of the canyon floor was a massive abyssal creature, bound in chains, its eyes glowing with a malevolent light. "It's a trap," Liora whispered, her voice filled with dread. Before we could retreat, the creature stirred, sensing our presence. The chains binding it started to unravel, released by unseen forces from the outpost. It was not just any creature; it was a Leviathan, an ancient beast of destruction, long believed to be a myth.

His Queen of Chaos

His Queen of Chaos

“I’m starting to think a lot of people we buried weren’t actually dead.” No one spoke after that. The storm outside had softened into a steady rain, but the atmosphere inside the safe house only grew heavier. Every new discovery rewrote another part of the past. My mother. Gabriel. Isaiah Cross. Death had become unreliable, and that terrified me more than I wanted to admit. If people could fake death that easily, what else could be faked? Loyalty? Family? Love? I wrapped my arms around myself and looked back at the evidence board. “So if Isaiah was your father’s shadow, and now he’s standing beside Gabriel and my mother, then either he’s helping them or—”

Reborn from Ashes

Reborn from Ashes

“According to the myths, The Great Old Ones, the Earth was inhabited by creatures who appeared here billions of years ago even before our planet was able to generate and sustain life on its own. It is said that it was these creatures, and not God, who created life on earth. Man himself was their creation, created solely from scorn and servitude. A pantheon of ancient and powerful space deities, who once ruled the Earth, and had since fallen into a mortal slumber.” Sophy then stopped talking and kept searching for something else. “Shub-Niggurath is often mentioned in spell rituals and is also called the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. She is an Outer God belonging to a group o

Others rush the injured to Cerberus’s gates, where the guardian beast protects the medical teams. Then it happens. The enemy unleashes their gods. We knew this was coming. We studied the line-up. Whiro, Māori god of the dead, appears first. His reptilian-human hybrid form is pure nightmare fuel. He devours souls—any souls—and grows stronger with every bite. Watching him swallow demons whole is disturbing. Then comes Ahriman, the Iranian god of strife, slithering forward on a serpent body, his face a chaos Picasso would worship. Four horns spiral from his skull, directing bedlam wherever they point.

She Runs with Wolves

She Runs with Wolves

They lived under a ruse of chaos, but instilling such fear in the humans they so desperately sought after took cunning, forethought, and detailed planning. They worshipped Haerlyne, who they believed was the God of Chaos, Theft, and Revenge. Aradia had told me of their great shrines, draped in ruby-red silk that flowed like blood from an open wound. They shrouded it with the bodies of their victims, giving them up in offering once their souls had been drawn from their bodies.

I am loving this beautifully written book! The author takes the time to craft the characters and the ways the natural world mirrors this inner world. I love that this is a very different kind of Alpha!

Void Contract;Lore Breaker

Zacharias called out to Q. Q turned to the commander and once more towards the red-skinned monster. He gave a nod and rushed to his teammates. “What the hell is an oni doing here?” Zacharias cursed. As he did so, the oni let out a loud roar. The roar caused the other newbies to stumble, paralyzed by fear. It also called out a horde of hobgoblins, summoning them from its own magical power. “Hmp,” Zacharias scoffed. He slammed one end of the staff on the ground. A mist of miasma emanated from the staff and enveloped the horde of hobgoblins. The miasma's poison was so potent that the hobgoblins died in seconds.
