He was ready for the day to be over. "You really drink this shit and call it coffee?" Tracey's voice echoed from the front of the store. Selby froze and glanced to where she would be, except several rows of shelves blocked his view. He should have known that she would come to him if he didn't go to her. The day had just been so chaotic that he hadn't had time to think. Now, he was out of time. He placed the books casually on the shelf and made his way up front. "There is no such thing as bad coffee, only better."

The urge to ask a question maybe, to vent, to confront…or perhaps simply…an attachment. * * * * * Coffee shops are something I don't usually go, but Jean Austley convince me to. Jean Austley, my best friend since childhood, is always a coffee person, and I am the exact opposite. I don't dislike coffee, nor do I like it. I often just don't have the energy to drink something dark and plain like a coffee. And after the thing that happened between me and Jordan Crown it only intensified. Now I totally never see myself drinking coffee again. I need something more to help me get through this agony. Liquor for instance.

I just don't want to go home. After putting all my books in the locker, I walked straight out of the campus. Since I didn't enjoy my coffee this morning, I want to grab some and enjoy my spare time alone. The Gelato Coffee shop is the only coffee shop I buy my coffee most of the time. They have my favorite coffee flavors and the ambiance of the shop is too good to relax. They also have a mini library where I can read some fictional novels and love stories. This place is one of the best that's why I love going here.

CHAPTER 12 SOPHIA Lucas had picked a quaint càfe nestled between two charming bookstores on a peaceful street. Inside,the gentle hum of soft jazz floated through the air,blending perfectly with the coffee cups and the occasional flips of book pages from the bookstore. It wasn't loud or crowded. It was intentional,calm and reflective. The kind of place that listened more than it spoke. I arrived at the cafe early just like my usual self–punctual, cautious and intentional. Subconsciously,my hand danced around the rim of the mug of coffee in my hands,my eyes flickering to the doors every few seconds.

You get to know people when you work somewhere like this because you always have your regulars. “You take section one. I will take section two,” I said. “Sure, boss,” He laughed, heading over to his own section, and I headed to mine. It was easier if we took a section each. That way, orders don’t get mixed up, and everyone gets what they want without any issues. It is good to have a coffee shop attached to a bookshop as you will get people who just come in to browse, then after smelling our custom coffee, they will come over. It’s always a bonus buying a new book and starting it with an excellent coffee and a cake.

Mains was already awake and puttering about when I got in, and the rich smell of fresh coffee wafted from the kitchen as I entered, the spicy, enticing scent assaulting my nostrils and making my mouth water. "Grab a cup of Joe, kid, we've got work to do!" he called from his book shelf, where he stood searching the spines. I poured myself a steaming cup, the black liquid dancing to the brim and I inhaled the warm, lively, liquid quickly. The hot beverage caressed my throat, settling warm and buzzy in my stomach. Coffee was like magic, I instantly felt awake and focused, and I started in on my questions immediately. "You found the fourth book? Where? What did it say?"

"Thank God. If I hadn't served them coffee, they'd be reading together in that Starbucks down the street." Anna put down the cardboard tray and put the coffee cups in order. Her auburn hair bounced below the line of her chin as she shook her head. "Al, you're so crazy. Do you know how much money you spent on coffee just to see those artists read poetry in front of each other? Let them bring their own coffee. "I need to run a business. Until I figure out how to get a loan to expand the bookstore, I need to keep them having caffeine." "Ask Eric. He's still your legal husband."

I walked downstairs to my boutique with a mug of coffee in my hand and a book which I'm currently reading. It was still raining outside making a puddle of water in different places on the street. I sat down in front of my counter and took a sip of my coffee. "Um, heavenly." I said and put the mug on the counter in front of me as I opened my book and started to read. I was reading a criminal novel. I only read three genres and that is romantic, criminal and fantasy.

The barista smiled and said, "I have no idea, but I'm sure it'll be interesting. And hey, if you ever need any more coffee or advice, you know where to find me." I smiled and said, "Thanks, I appreciate it. And who knows, maybe I'll even write a book about my experiences as a celebrity." The barista laughed and said, "Now that's a book I'd definitely read," the barista said, chuckling. "Just think of the title: 'From Writer to Celebrity: A Tale of Chaos and Coffee'." I laughed and said, "Hey, that's not a bad title! Maybe I'll have to use that."

Stupid, maybe, but what harm in coffee? The day at the bookstore dragged. I recommended thrillers to a mom with twins, restocked the cozy mysteries, but my mind wandered. What would I say to Tom? Keep it casual. Friends of friends. By 1:45, I was out the door, nerves buzzing like I'd chugged espresso.
