I knew what Michael was capable of with legitimate proximity.
I had watched him operate for months from inside his own house.
"Move," Dex instructed sharply.
I moved.
Third floor.
The walls up here were moving faster, and the hydraulic rate increased, indicating that the designers intended this floor to be the kill floor. The space between junctions was shorter, the correct paths narrower, and the dead ends were everywhere.
We hit a dead end.
"Back," Dex said immediately.
We turned.
The wall behind us had closed eight inches since we entered the dead-end corridor. We had forty-five seconds before it became impassable.
