Did she have ancestors from there several generations back that she just didn't know about? And most of all, what did any of it have to do with the very strange book she'd found, Legends of the Werewolf. The binding was ancient leather, now frayed in many places, and the lettering in gold. The other night when she finally opened it she expected to read about the history of werewolves and how that history came to be. Instead, to her shock, the stories were about shapeshifters, people who could change into the shape of a wolf. Whole villages apparently had that ability and when danger presented itself they shifted into their wolf shape, gathered as a pack and disappeared.

Then, the night was filled with darkness, home to the creatures of the night. I had heard the phrase creatures of the night refer to animals like wolves, owls, bats, and so on, but also to vampires. I frowned and opened the book on the history of vampires, but when I opened it, I couldn’t read it. The script wasn’t of any language I had ever seen. The pages were much older than the book on the Moon Goddess. I turned it over to look at the back cover. There was no bar code there. There wasn’t one on the front cover, either.

Flipping open the book randomly, my eyes skimmed over words that made no meaning to me. I turned around as heavy footsteps approached, only to find Yeti balancing a ridiculous amount of books in her arms. “Found some good stuff—” she paused as her eyes strayed to the book I was holding. “What is that?” “A book?” She walked past me, dropping the heaps of books on the table before turning back to me. “Let me see that.” She said, prying the book from my fingers. “Forgotten Beasts: A Study on the Supernatural.

I exclaim her words get me scared of Adams and his family. "A few years ago, there was a fall of higher obscure creatures, more obscure than you and I, they had no face and they were all covered in dark garments with reddish blood eyes, somewhere invisible. Most of those creatures came out through the gate. It was like they were coming from the human world. They were brainless, and killing was their only goal." She counts with so many pains. "Omg!" I exclaim.

I snapped at him while leaving the office. I went upstairs to my bedroom, and I put the books on the bedside table and the first one I grabbed was called 'The History Of Morda'. I poured myself a drink and I sat on the bed and opened it to the first page. It was established in the 1300's and it was a mystical land full of creatures that didn't belong on Earth. Someone didn't want them to be extinct, so they created Morda and sent the creatures to live there. Dragons and beats and Ogre's. Dangerous creatures. Why would anyone want to save those animals?

People are scrambling and running towards the forest to hide. I zoom in on what everyone is frightened of and it makes me want to vomit. There are these weird looking creatures that appear to have various features from a bird, feline, bear and wolf. Maybe human too? There eyes are completely black. Some have three arms or two heads and their flesh smells as though it is rotting. Whatever they are I don’t think they are truly alive. “Kale!” “On it Katerina, get Cedar and Joy out of here!”

The air grew thick with the sound of turning pages and the scent of dust they were disturbing for the first time in decades. Nate’s mind reeled as he read. The books spoke of creatures he’d only ever seen in movies. There were bestiaries detailing dragons, their scales described with metallic precision. He found genealogical charts for vampiric bloodlines and treaties on fae territories. It was a hidden history of the world, all contained in this impossible room, and he could barely believe any of it was real. The books themselves were artifacts, some dating back hundreds of years, their pages brittle and their ink faded. “So… dragons? Vampires? They’re real?” Nate breathed, his voice hushed

I clenched my fists and forced my legs forward. Then the ground split open right in front of us. Black smoke exploded upward, twisting like a tornado. Out of it rose tall, bony creatures skinny, shadows with glowing red lines pulsing through them like veins. The air felt thick, hard to breathe, like their presence was squeezing my lungs. “Binders,” Ms. Joyce said, steady but sweating. “They’re tied to the book, they protect it.” One lunged straight at us. I didn’t even have time to move. Ms. Joyce slammed her staff into the earth, the ground erupted, throwing up a wall of jagged rock that smashed the creature into drifting black ash.
