Our hearts are crying from inside, but we're still smiling for each other because we know our smile is each other's strength. As she stepped out of the car, my heart ached and fresh tears trickled down my cheeks and a sob escaped out of my mouth automatically. She glanced at me for the last time with a smile on her face and pain in her eyes before facing her back to me. She is strolling towards her home, going away from me and I'm feeling like she's taking a part of me with herself. My heart is hurting painfully. I want to step out of the car, rush behind her and stop her by hugging tightly from behind, but I can't because I'm helpless. I have to let her go for her safety.

A false smile, but people don’t notice, my cheeks burn in pain at the permanent on slaughter of fakeness. I don’t talk to people. I smile. I smile until it’s too painful to keep it latched onto my face. I smile until tears streaming down that face. I smiled until I’m screamed at and kicked at by my fellow peers. But it’s okay. It’s always been okay.

Beads of sweats dripped down her face as she dabbed them off angrily. “But then I don’t think it is bad anyways.” She said and smirked. She sighed deeply and closed her eyes. “I think it is bad.” She heard a voice say from behind her. Her eyes went wide open and she stiffened immediately. She turned around and saw the person with a sad smile. “How could you?”

It reminded me of her own words as her own voice played inside my head. "When people smile a lot it doesn't mean they are happy but it means there is something wrong with them....Smile is plaster to the face that tries to remold life but when the plaster is put for long, it makes one forget that it isn't real. And one by one, they escape quietly, just like the tears that have been stuck in my eyes. This intense emotion is overwhelming me... it’s like a wave of fear and joy that I can’t even put into words. I don’t know how I can cry and smile at the same time, but yet, my face is wet from my watery eyes, and there’s a silly smile on my lips, a laugh that breaks out, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m happy or nervous, and maybe it’s both. I don’t know how to react. Is there even a right way to respond to this?

One behind him and one in front of him. They were exactly the same but different at the same time. The one in front of him had an etch of sadness in her face and darkness was gathered in her eyes. The other one's eyes were glowing with happiness along with a beatific smile. Nevertheless, their expressions swapped in an instant. The one who was sad was grinning at him and a glint of liberty and satisfaction was seen in her eyes. Her eyes were teary due to happiness. When he turned back to see the other one, her face had already crumpled like a used tissue. Her eyes were shining with the threat of tears and she forwarded a hand to him as if asking him to hold it.
