Natasha's POV The trip already feels cursed, and the thought settles deeper the longer I stay in this room, staring at a ceiling that suddenly feels like the whole place has decided to shut me out along with him. Danny has been off since we got here, moving around me without really seeing me, answering questions with half-words, disappearing for stretches of time that last longer than they should. I keep replaying the morning in my head, trying to remember when exactly he slipped away, how I didn’t notice him leaving during the swimming game.
