Just when I could finally attain the thing I've always yearned for, it appears at the most inconvenient time imaginable and also in the worse possible way. It was as though the universe was playing a cruel joke on me, mocking me with the very thing I'd been striving for when it was too late for me to appreciate it fully. Why can't things ever fall into place when I need them the most? I laughed, shaking my head side to side, "You're a horrible man, you know that, right?"

"That's not common among men of your standing." "Perhaps that's why I find them so terribly dull." I glanced across the room.

One could never expect from him to be serious. "I am a straight man too." I asserted towards him, raising my voice with a poker face. "Who knows?" He voiced out which irritated me more. Oh Jesus Chirst, save him before I successfully murder him and his lame humor. "Can you just kill me?" I asked, frustratingly. "You should not be worrying, you know you will die anyway." He answered back. "What the fuck? I just can not make sense of, how the fuck you and your thick brain could think of such a lame humor." I asserted back to him.

she giggled at her own joke. Guila’s giggle rippled through the air, a moment of levity amidst the heavy atmosphere. Her joke, bizarre and unexpected, painted a vivid picture in my mind. I couldn’t help but smile at her words, the image she conjured absurdly amusing. It was as if, even in the darkest moments, she managed to find a glimmer of humor, a ray of light that pierced through the shadows.

“You’re making me feel stupid!” That made me laugh. You can’t blame me, though. If someone will ask me why don’t I add humor in talking or basically in my life, I will just point my books then turn away. Simply, my life only revolves in my books. So, why should I add humor in it? It’s not like it’s a requirement for you to stay alive. My friends know how deep my mindset is. For me, mindset is everything. Even them couldn’t catch up with the way I view everything. They’re having a hard time understanding those. Turns out for them I’m a whole mystery that no can be able to solve.

Juke grumbled under his breath, his hands tightening on the steering wheel. "I think we all know about your sense of humor Juke, it's only there when it's at the expense of others." Paul's voice carried a wry note from the back seat. "Tell us, have you ever laughed at yourself when the joke is on you, and not what you've done to someone else." "Why would I laugh at myself, that's just stupid? If something someone says upsets me, how can I find humor in that?" The genuine confusion in Juke's voice made Dale's heart twinge.

A message bubble lit up under his name, cheerful and oblivious. Just another one of his dry, stupid jokes—something about his dinner being so terrible he was convinced the restaurant was trying to assassinate him with undercooked chicken. He'd probably attached one of those ridiculous GIFs he was always finding, something animated and silly that was meant to make me laugh.

Then, out of nowhere, a sharp, disbelieving laugh tore from his throat. “You know what?” Ezra scoffed, shaking his head slowly. “Are you actually okay up there?” He tapped the side of his temple with exaggerated concern. “Because the nonsense coming out of your mouth—man, it’s beyond stupid. It’s almost impressive.” His laughter echoed louder now, cruel and mocking, the kind that cut deeper than any punch. “You really thought you could play smart? You’re either brain-dead or just suicidal.”

I was acutely aware that beneath this light-hearted moment loomed the weight of the serious conversations we still needed to have. I couldn’t predict how long her cheerful spirit would last, so I mentally tucked this precious memory away like a treasured keepsake. I knew our talk would turn heavy, perhaps leading her to walk away again. If that happened, I wanted to reach back into my mind’s archive and find comfort in replaying the sound of her laughter. “The twins would argue that if they were going to get their asses kicked, the charity should be for the arts,” Holly quipped, shaking her head as her laughter gradually waned, leaving behind a warm afterglow.
